We had a great time at Bruce's. We are glad we got to meet you guys too. we cant wait till we can all get together again. Sorry to hear you had to do the radiator thing as well. its a major repair. On a side note - how much work would it be for me to move my two fans / air units to the other side of the bus? right now they are on the passenger side, and when we sit out there - the fans blow right on us? just a thought for a future project. right now i am working on the new water system. Thanks. John |

Hi John, Yea, I noticed that... It wouldn't be that big of a deal to move to the other side. I think you would be better off with the storage on the curb side anyway. Let me know when you want to do it and I'll help you. Nick- |

Thanks J&C for the break down of your costs. It seems you did save some $ by running down your own parts. If i remember you left your coach to be repaired and then did some searching for the radiators, or did US Coach obtain it? How much $ did you save by being able to to repair it at your leisure as compared to being on the road and having it repaired right away (original repair estimate?) thanks so much, this was way beyond the norm, your sharing with us. |

David, The originial estimate for the radiator alone was $2800.00... We tracked this one down with the help of all the great guys here on the BBS. We ended up getting it shipped from Chicago and the total cost included the shipping. The guys at US Coach had plans of getting things done fast - but I slowed them down. I am sure there was some savings since they didnt have to rush - but we never discussed a price on the repairs - just the price of the radiator. I needed the repairs done and couldn't shop around for that, besides - US Coach is probably the best place around here to do the work! I am hoping that this break down of costs helps some guys to budget what they might need, should a similar situation arrive. I would have to tell anyone - besides the repair costs, if we didnt have AAA + for RV's the towing cost would have been pretty close to the repair costs! Thankfully we got away with a $210.00 towing bill and AAA was to be charged a small fortune, per the tow truck guys! Everyone out there with a bus needs to remember one thing -- the bigger the toys, the bigger the repair bill !!! Not to mention the size of a tow truck needed to tow a bus... John |
