I need help. I'm looking for a thermostat housing that supplies water to the bus heat and defrost. United engines in shreveport rebuilt this engine, and broke the housing during the install. They can't find the part, and I need my bus back . The motor is a inline 671 det. I need your help..... |

I'm not very familiar with buses etc yet, but I would think a good machine/weld shop could weld it if its cast and then face it off on a mill. I have had things like that done on other types of equipment. |

How about replacing it with a manual valve. That's what I have on my Courier 96,4-71 DD, at the back of the engine above the bell housing. You open it to get coach heat, and close it on warm days. Not much to it. |

A little off topic but I have been told that the twin thermostats on an 8V-92 only accomodate one temp. sensor and only on one side and if the thermostat on the side without the sensor sticks you will cook that side and the Temp. gauge in the dash will not reflect the condition soon enough to save it. Is this correct info? |

I think that I have come up with a solution.I suggested to the mechanics to tie into one of the return lines going to the radiator. Mechanic said this will work. I appreciate all of the suggestions..... |
