Things are coming along nicely with my MCI. I am ready to seal the RV windows to the body and I need to know what is commonly used. I belive in my old Winnie it was some sort of double sided sticky tape, but I wonder if there is something better on the market. Thanks! Glenn |

I'd use butyl tape. It's not exactly double-sided, but it's sticky all the way through. It stays fairly soft and doesn't dry out and crumble with age. Keep it cool, especially right before you apply it, else it's a nasty, gooey mess. David |

Glenn, we used the butyl tape and it worked really well for us. It stays very pliable, but gets really sticky if out in the sun for to long. We kept putting ours in the soda/beer fridge and it worked really well that way |

You can buy butyl in caulking-type tubes and use a caulking gun to apply the butyl. It's easy to draw a bead the size you need. The ribbon works fine, but it's fairly thick... Either way, butyl is the way to go. (Message edited by john_mc9 on October 11, 2007) |

Is the "butyl" the kind of stuff that comes in a 3/8" x 3/8" strip on a 1/2" wide wax paper strip? |

It comes in a bunch of flavors, but the RV shops usually only carry and use the rolls of the "tape", 1/2, 3/8, 1" wide, with that paper backing.... or the tubed butyl. I've used both, and always have both in the tool bag.... The white/grey, and black are both handy to have.. |

Thanks, John, I've used it when putting up a "quonset" type building. Remarkable stuff. |
