Jerry - PD4106-137: Eastern Greyhound Lines, Cleveland, OH. Fleet number 3311, new in May of 1961. (Hard to tell actual delivery month - was part of a 100 bus order delivered between April and July of '61. May is a guesstimate, based on other delivery records.) So you can truthfully tell your friends and family that you own a genuine Greyhound bus! 8^) HTH, RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

Was 4106-131 part of that order? It used to be mine, but is now languishing in a salvage yard near Milwaukee. |

My dad sold it to a very small band in 1987-1988 that was from Milwaukee. They used it very little, but had a lot of things done to it. My brother installed front and rear caps and an updated tailgate in 1990-91. Anyway, in Jan. '01 the band leader went to start it to use it and it wouldn't start. The starter had gone out, again. So, it sat. And sat. Finally the person who owned the lot that it was parked in told the band leader that it had to go. He offered it for sale in Milwaukee, but got no response. Finally, he wound up giving it to the salvage yard where it is now, not selling it- giving it. Of course he had to pay for the towing. I have given thought to trading it to Garry Dean for a 4104 that he has in his yard. What kind of parts would anyone be looking for? All of the baggage doors are gone, apparently stripped off by the salvage yard, and the molding that is right under the windows is missing. If I can be of any help, please let me know. |

The bus is at J&J Salvage in Milwaukee. Their address is 6780 N. Industrial Rd. and their number is 414-358-0125. The fella I talked to is Jacob. He's greek and a little hard to understand sometimes. Just ask him about the Greyhound bus as he doesn't know what a 4106 is. I can email pictures if you'd like. I was up there about two weeks ago, so the pictures are current. Jacob told me that between mid-April and mid-May there will be a crusher there and the bus will get cut up. So, if you need something get it soon. I haven't decided yet if I want to trade for the 04 or not. Also, I know of a '65 4106 in NW Indiana that is for sale. If anyone would like his number, let me know. It is a complete bus that hasn't been run in a while and I don't know if he's willing to part it out. Hope this helps, Ray |

Hi guys, I have a PD4106 #1726. I really enjoy this bus but I've had to overcome some challenges. This site has been a wealth of information. If the holder of knowledge could give me some information about my bus I would appreciate it. My biggest challenge so far was troubleshooting a charging problem that was fixed by rebuilding the alternator and replacing the voltage regulator. I think I have a problem with the air compressor governor. It seems to not want to turn the compressor off. The pressure just builds up until the relief valve purges it. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that. Anyhow, I'd appreciate any info you could provide about my bus. ...Phil |

Phil - PD4106-1726: Trailways of New England, Washington, DC. Delivered new in February, 1963, original fleet number TN982. Trailways was similar to Greyhound, kept coaches in their fleet about 10 years. So during that period it was pretty well-maintained. Sorry, don't have any subsequent ownership records. Do you know where the governor is on the air compressor? The "down 'n dirty" fix is to rap on it with a deadblow mallet, 'cause sometimes they just stick. If that doesn't work, take it off the compressor and head for your local HD truck parts store, they'll be able to match it. It's a pretty common part, so relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the information RJ. I was told by the guy I bought the bus from that my bus was bought by a preacher who had it converted into a motorhome and used it travelling down and through the Bakersfield area holding tent revivals. It was then bought by a guy in Oregon who used it for about 5 years and then sold it to me. Don't know if it's true but it's an interesting story none the less. I have a pretty good idea where the compressor is because I hear it when it's running. I'll bang on that governor and see if that does the trick. Thanks, Phil PD4106-1726 ..OKC |
