What would be the normal operating temperature on a V730 allison automatic tranmission?

I don't know if mine is normal or not, but I usually run at 180-190 degrees

Bob mine seems to run in relation to the engine. Thats when engine heats above 180 trany goes with it. I do know I watch and both are about together.

Mine runs at or slightly below water temp when on the highway - will go up 20-30 degress in stop and go traffic or waiting in traffic in gear
(clutchs friction)

OK - FROM THE ALLISON MANUAL

FOR AT MT and HT transmissions

SUMP FLUID
100 Degress F = Minimum
200 Degress F = Typical Continuous
250 Degress F = Max

Converter Out Fluid Temp
300 Degrees f = Max
