We are installing a Vanner equalizer. Does it make any difference if the equalizer is hooked with the wires coming from the batteries to the inverter? This would mean the equalizer would be hooked to the inverter same as the batteries are hooked to. Thanks Les |

Not a problem if it's a 24 volt inverter- don't forget the Vanner 12volt connection - don't leave it hang - connect it to the 12 volt post of the 24 volt battery stack. Big problem if it's a 12 volt inverter - Vanner will only equalize to the max amps of the Vanner (model 60-50 is only 60 amps) - that would only support a small 12 volt inverter of maybe 600 watts - over load and it pops it's C/B IIRC |

Pete, In Les's case he really isn't using the Vanner as an equaliser but rather as a source of 12 volt power for his 12 volt house needs. In his case he doesn't need to or want to connect to his 12 volt tap. He is using the Vanner as a 24 volt to 12 volt converter replacing a 12 volt converter that was powered by his 24 volt inverter, hardly efficient. Regards Jerry 4107 1120 |

Jerry Your statement is only true for the older style vanner equalizers - like the 50-60 - they will function as a voltage splitter if the vanner has no 12 volt connection wired to the 12 battery post The new Vanners family 4-5 like the 65-60 and 65-100 will not initially turn on it's 12 volt terminal (for safety reasons) if there is no 12 volt battery connection - Reference - Doug Vanner tech support 614-771-2718 11/19/07 Pete RTS/Daytona |

I'm curious as to why anybody wouldn't use the equalizer as intended. I pull 12 volts off the 'lower' house battery. My 24 volt inverter doesn't charge, so I have an Iota 3-stage converter (12 volt) that charges the 'higher' batter, and the 80 amp Vanner eq. keeps both batteries balanced and charged. David |

Hi: I'm with David above, wire it in as designed, 24 Volt charger/alternator and equalizer to the + post of the top battery, - of the top and + of the lower battery to the 12V post and 12 volt load, and gnd to gnd. Works for me! Ayjay |
