I think I'm going to take the plunge and get levelers for my Eagle 05; the BigFoot by Quandra looks great but at 6k with frame modifications for the front to handle them seems a little too pricey. What's your experience?

Doyle, if you can get to Quartzsite in Jan you can beat that price.A friends of mine that had BigFoot installed on his Eagle paid about 4 grand.I have 64000# HWH on my Eagle and the 6 grand was about the price i paid, plus you can make the Eagle rally in Jan.Doyle another option you have is to install the air level system like some of the Model 15 came from the factory with for about 3 grand

I operated a medical coach that was equiped with "Bigfoot" by Quadra. It worked well once we got a couple gremlins out of the system. It had to be bled a couple times to get all the air out, then it seemed to work well. The coach was about 22K and if needed it would pick one end completely off the ground to achieve level.

Doyle,

I too looked at this as I saw a set on an Eagle at the Brownsville rally last April. Man it was cool. He could lift the entire coach off its wheels with a 4 point system.

The price is what set me back. I haven't been able to part with that much $$$ to put them on my coach. I wonder if you could scrounge a set from a bone yard. However, our buses take the biggest set offered, so those are very rare to find other than new out of the box.

Ron,

I am also interested in the air level for $500. Sounds kinda cheap to me, but I do like the price. Is it a kit or a build your own kit?

When I got this Coach she had the Level It on (Air Level) in 1987 they paid $495.00 for the kit and then I don't know how much for the install! I would Jump on the 500 in a hot flash. I love it! can't bring her as high as you say the Big Foot will But the air system works for ME!

Rob,
One big difference is that your coach has air ride suspension from the factory. Eagle buses were built with torsilastic suspension (no air bags). Jack

Doyle, if you go with Bigfoot i see now you can get a manual overide on the new ones get the new. Thats why i went with HWH because i did not like the power up and power down on the Bigfoot.Seen to many that you could not get up because of some minor problem

I purchased the "Bigfoot Quadra" system from Lakeland,Fl. The price for my unit was about $4000.00 installed. The guy down there was great to deal with and the didn't do any mods on my coach. They did however, do some other things for me while they were under there!!!

Sounds Kinky! Seriously, Bill how long ago was that? Could be that the $5,875 now is just plain inflation. Roy (the Quadra guy) did say that they have to beef-up the front frame members.

thanks,

Hope not...That was about the end of March or first of April. I guess if everything else has gone up in price then the levelers should not be left out...

Well I guess they didn't have to beef my front end up because it was already done from the previous set of "BIGFOOT" levelers that was installed!!! Yes this is the second set because the first set was missing all kinds of parts. I have some pieces from the original set if you are interested.

Bill, its not much beefing up that i can see on mine just a couple of braces. Are your Bigfoot behind the front wheel or in front of the wheel.Don't need any parts but i am happy that it was beefed up on the front for you and the 4000.00 was what Ken paid for his Bigfoots last Jan installed

My levelers are located behind the steer axle tires. It looks to me as if they welded a plate in the first bay on each side then installed the levelers to that plate.

Here is a guy who put air leveling on an Eagle. He says he drops the pressure down while driving so it doesn't effect the Torsilastic suspension, but then he airs it up for leveling the bus when parked. Putting bags in the suspension and then using one of Pete's leveling kits would be a lot less than $4000. And it would be cool to be able to level your Eagle so easily too.

http://members.tripod.com/Pipesusmc/

His website is a little quirky and slow but the pictures are good. I think he is working on a new site now to show it better.

Here is a picture of the installation of one of the bags from his site.

Man, the bill on this Eagle just keeps on getting higher! haha

I like the convenience of air leveling. That is one of the things that always endeared me to MCI. Now if I can just figure out how to get that air lock door on the Eagle...

Ok, they're in... $6,600 later tax, title and license. The left rear scrapes the pumpkin at full extension. I'll have to use blocks to get 'er all the way off the ground. Sure are a nice convenience.... butt not sure I made the right decision. Only the grand children's college fund will know for sure!
