Gentlemen (and ladies),

I searched archives and the board this year but did not find a lot of new information. I am going to purchase a in motion antenna for my bus (ops Coach) there appears to be 3 main players in this market.

KVH, King Dome and Wingard with KVH coming in at 2.5K, King around 2.1K, and Wingard at about 1.2K -- i have Dish HD at home they all appear to be complainant... do you guys have any experience or
can lead me in a good direction -- i have 3 HD flat panels in the coach with another in froward most luggage bay..

thanks in advance ...

david

I said it once...twice...three times... I guess i'll say it again!!! "TRACSTAR"!!! I am sold on TRACSTAR because of their 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. You can fix your own unit not "if" but "when" it malfunction. They all will malfunction every once in a while. They are man made however, with TRACSTAR, they will talk you through correcting the issue immediately. I talked about this through a previous thread. I have a KVH unit and a TRACSTAR unit. Every time I have an issue with KVH, they give you a number to a service tech, who usually cant get to you for 3 days to a week. When you do talk to the service tech, its usually 85.00 to 125.00 an hour and you have to take it in. With TRACSTAR, they will talk to you, your diagnostics display is with you where ever you go. If you do need a part, they will send it to you along with any calibration equipment you might need. All they ask is you promise to return their tools. I hope I didn't sound like a salesman because I don't get one red cent for my opinion. I just love it when a company do all they can to stand behind their product, without a charge every time.

I've got a Wingard in motion with Dish. I have regular home service with Dish. I can't get my home local channels because of their "spot beam" The receiver has a hard drive and is not supposed to be moved while running. Dish sez you have to have a mobile account and call in to activate local channels every time you move. My Wingard works "ok"... every time I set up it has to go through the "check switch" routine, about 10 minutes... then find the sat. and download the programs. It goes through this routine when the TV is turned off for several hours, even though the receiver is powered on. The whole set up is a disappointment.

Mine is a king dome! Only problem I had with it so far was ME, during installation and had the cables reversed! Not knowing this the company walked me thru the process and all for free! Works great every time and very user friendly!

Let me add that I opted to not purchase the IN motion as I never watch tv while traveling. I couldn't see the extra 500 bucks. As it is, I only paid 600 and am well satisfied!

Thanks Guys,

I appreciate your input. If anyone else has input or experiences i would appreciate hearing about their those as well.

(i have been on this board long enough now to know to never ask questions about insulation or wire in a bus/coach -- kindva like that saying about elbows being like opinions, everyone has one -- i figured that i would be safe with TV and satellite questions LOL -- with this bunch i would never admit to having a EE degree because it is clear that i would NOT have an opinion about wiring an bus/coach... thanks again guys)

Hi;
Hopefully I'll be able to give you another opinion of the King Dome after the weather stays warm for a day or two. Bought a 9762LP on the e-place for less than half of the MSRP.
We'll see if I got a bargain or not..THEN...

What ever you buy make sure it will recieve the sat you need.Just bought and installed a TracStar SV360 This unit will track all three major systems.....Dish, Direct, and ExpressVue.
Very easy to install, and setup. I don't think I was more than 1 hour to install.

Hi David,

I'm now on the second KVH dish [because of a low train bridge] I now own the KVH A-7, 5" high.
I must say that it is by far has the fastest aqusition of picture then anything anybody has mentioned. 7 seconds from start up...Picture is in! In motion it has less then a quarter of the picture losses then the dome styles.
I think mostly because of the "Phaysed Array" tech.
Good Luck with your purchace

Hi David,

In Feb. 08' KVH will be 100% compadible with Dish Network. Along with existing units needing a flash upgrade.

I also run 4 HD flat panels in the bus. "don't ask where the 4th is" with the recievers running off my home account. $4.99 mo. each.

Nick: Sorry for the late response; we are back in Canada for Christmas and internet access is limited (my Verizon aircard is too expensive to operate up here)
I bought my unit in Charlotte NC for $1975.
