Ok I had the gauges out to do some work on the dash. I labeled everything (I thought) and everything worked great except for the 12 volt meter gauge. It did nothing. It sits right beside a 24 volt gauge and it is possible those wires got confused! Let me also add that there are THREE red wires and TWO blacks which I know are the ground. Now I took a volt meter and checked the wires for voltage when the key is turned on. I get 23 something on the one and nothing on the other one. Yes, I said there was THREE but, one of them is also the same wire or so it appears. There is a factory solder joint with a short wire added to it with a clear shrink wrap on the joint. That also shows 23 something volts. These ALL worked before "I" got a hold of them! I downloaded the wiring diagram from the prevost site and all it shows is 1 red coming to the 24 volt gauge and 2 reds coming to the 12 volt gauge. One of those comes from, or to the speedometer, so the diagram says! I have tried every combination I can think of between the 2 gauges and THREE red wires with no luck. I DO have fully charged batteries at this time and as it is now, the 24 volt gauge works fine! The 12 volt gauge PEGS all the way to the right when power is supplied! This will NOT keep me from Arcadia! LOL Any ideas? Ace |

Please disregard the above question. The bus just burned to the ground! Just kidding but I DID fix the problem! Seems the guy that took the dash apart must of had two too many Coronas and tried to wire the oil pressure gauge to the volt meter and vice versa! DUMB ASS... Thanks anyway... Ace |

Ah Geez! When will it ever end? I was so happy about fixing my problem I just had to show Susan when she got home from work which by the way was after dark. Guess what I found? No dash lights! I checked the circuit breaker but it was good to go! Tomorrow, "that guy" dives into the inner dash once again! YUCK! I DID manage to clean out all the bays today and sort everything. Man when your working on a conversion, it seems you put things in the bays JUST to put them someplace! I found stuff I forgot I even bought, let alone had! I bet the bus weighs about 500 lbs less now! LOL On a side note, I want to add that my new on board 24v 25 amp battery charger works like a dream! I don't know how or why I never got one before now but thanks to Bill and Brenda Phelen for talking me into it, it's about the best 250 bucks I have spent so far. Had me kind of worried at first as I listened to the 4 group 31 batteries sizzle like bacon for a few hours but during the night, the charger turned itself off and everything was hot to go! All four equally measure 12.7-8. In fact, the batteries were never this charged even when new! I was able to turn all the lights on (excluding the dash lights of course) outside and in all the bays, which have their own double set of lights, for about 3 hours. The charger didn't kick back on so that told me the batteries were well charged. Before, I couldn't leave one bay door open for more than 15 or 20 minutes and the lights started dimming! The charger is VERY easy to hook up. Just plug it in to a 110 outlet, put the black on your neg battery and the red on the pos battery which you already knew! Nothing else to do but sit back and wait. It does have a green led light that stays lit while charging but goes out and stays off when all is good! It doesn't get any easier than that, at least for me! Ace |

"All four equally measure 12.7-8. In fact, the batteries were never this charged even when new!" Yet another convert to the realisation that vehicle alternators and converters don't charge deep cycle batteries to more than about 75% in any sensible time. |

"Before, I couldn't leave one bay door open for more than 15 or 20 minutes and the lights started dimming! " Thats the sign of cronic underchargeing, so now that you finally bought a real charger its time for a new set of batts. Kept undercharged the batts have lost most of their recharge ability . Its only currency, FF |
