Am looking at a 1995 Ford 4X4 150 automatic w/electronic shift and also a 1997 Chev S-10 Blazer with same configuration. Have heard that there might be a computer chip that can be installed to put transfer case in neutral for towing four on the floor without disconnecting driveshafts. Anyone know anything about these vehicles? Any info appreciated. Thanks. John Dodge

I used to tow a small Toyota Tercel with a 4 speed manual shift. It was a fairly basic car, but it was fine transportation when we were camped (it was the same car I commuted to work in), and weighed less than half of what a typical SUV weighs.

I never had any problems with towing it.
