I'm sure it's been brought up before. I looked through the archives a bit. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I need to replace my MC8 leaky marker lights.
I don't think I want to do any major modifications for the lights. The originals are fine.
Should I just order these from MCI or where is the best place to get them? Any tips on the wiring?

Are there any LED replacements or alternatives that actually fit right in and don't require major rewiring?

Thanks.

Mine were leaky too. I think people would be surprised at how many leaks actually come from the marker lights! I got mine from Luke. I think they were about $16 each, but it's been a couple of years. Just cut off the old connector and crimp on a new one. I also added a bit of silicone sealer behind each one... just to make sure there's no more leaking. Also, they will leak between the lens and the light itself, so I sealed between the lens and light on some that didn't seem to fit as well as others. I eventually replaced all of them, as the bases had hardened and wouldn't seal well.

I too just replaced the originals. I know the hoss's on the board do LEDs, but I couldn't see going to the trouble. If I could have found some direct swap LEDs I probably would have done it.

So, Mohawk to the rescue!

I sealed betwn the gasket and the roof as well as the lens and the gasket, like David. I used Lexel. (cool stuff)

Direct swap out, new gasket and lamp included, couldn't have been easier.

What's "Lexel"? Some sort of sealer? I sealed my new clearance lights with silicone based high-tech stuff and I believe they still leak. Gotta carry this sealing thing one step further. I'd pull the bus out into the rain, but it's all clean now. Not about to nasty it up in the winter. Maybe a garden hose would show the problem. Something's leaking over my dash.
Doesn't leak sitting still, just when driving at speed. Then look out!
Thanks, JR

Water driven past the windshield seals?

You wouldn't believe where it will seep through when under way.

happy coaching!

I think it's common up front to leak at the front cap and in the middle windshield seal. A lot of leaks fall down near above the center windshield beam. The problem is the "higher" up you get any minor leak, like in the marker light or even above... the worse it is because then it leaks down into the walls and it could leak around the windows. Like the side windows. It looks like a side window leak but it could be coming from anywhere.
I would be interested in Lexel or any other way of stopping leaks. I have to at minimum do a hose check at least once and maybe with a air line.
Unfortunately leaks can be a big problem looks like.
