Hi folks,

If you're visiting friends this New Years and an awkward silent moment falls upon the crowd, here are some interesting/boring (depending on your life) statistics with which you can dazzle all the attendees...

This bbs now has an archive of 97,070 messages. Of these messages, I have tried to keep my mouth shut by leaving only 838 messages (839 now!) or about 8/10ths of 1% of the total messages. 1,608 viewers have subscribed to the bulletin board, now that it's mandatory! The winner of our "Holy Hanna, Did I Really Say That? Award" goes, once again, to Drivingmisslazy who has left a grand total of 1,841 messages. Oh, but that's with only one alias. Between "two dogs" and "bob_greenwood", who, it's no secret, is the same guy, he has left an astounding 2,039 messages. He asked for his profile to be deleted last summer. Gearheadgary, even though he hasn't posted since January 5, 2005, remains in 2nd place at 1,498 messages! Thank you lads!!

This year, BNO occupies a little over 2 gig of server space (no wonder it's getting to be so expensive) and we've shelled out about 276 gig of information, or about 11 million web page views. In the last year, our visitors viewed about 11 pages per visit, on average. We are still welcoming about 3,500 to 4,500 visitors a day to BNO for a total of 16,225,161 hits!!! We received over 1.4 million hits in each of January, March, June, July and August. That's up from 1.2 million in each of only 3 months in 2004. In March, our highest traffic month, we averaged over 1,900 hits per hour!

Most of our viewers are here at 9:00 pm Eastern and 30% of you viewers visit between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm. 9 am 'til 11 am attracts a steady stream of traffic, as well.

Where do you go when you get here? Our most popular spot is this bulletin board, of course! As I have said on many occasions to potential customers, people stay where they can play!! And here you are!!! Our other busiest sections are our Home Page, our Lost Links pages and Dave Galey's online version of The Bus Converter's Bible.

On the wane are our chat room, DieselChat and, of course, 2007 marks the demise of our old Buses for Sale section. But good news for both buyers and sellers of buses; we have something in the development stage that will resurrect the Buses for Sale section permanently. It took some thinking outside the box on this one, but we are aiming to revolutionize the bus buying and selling experience with a totally overhauled, and that means from the ground up, Buses for Sale section. Stay tuned - we're rolling out in January!

More useless numbers?

This year, 14.3% of our viewers have looked up our hobby using the word (or derivative of) "busnut", which probably represents those people who are new to BNO and to our hobby. Our highest rankings in the search engines are, in order, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Google Images and AltaVista. Over 2,400 visitors a day come to us from other bus conversion hobby web sites including, in decending order, www.busconversions.com, www.rvnetlinx.com, www.scenicruiser.com, www.rv-busconversions.com and www.rvbus.net. A sincere thank you to those who link to us from their exceptional web sites. Welcome folks!

81% of you use Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. There are 9% of you using Firefox and 4% of us still use Netscape. 93% of us are running Windows as our computer operating system, while 3% use those artsy-fartsy Mac computers. Only .2% of you are smart enough to be using the virus impervious Linux OS. Good for you.

Here are some scary numbers: 12% of you stay here for 2 to 5 minutes! I presume you're here only long enough to catch up on the bulletin board messages. 13% of you stay here for 5 to 15 minutes. 12% of you hang out for 15 minutes to an hour. Clearly, 3.2% of you need medical help for the fact that you stay here for over an hour! (Kidding, of course!).

And here's some really, really useless information... an amazing 55% of you added us to your Bookmarks/Favorites list. How do I know these things??? Why do I know these things???

3% of the members of Family Motor Coach Association own bus conversions, though no one at FMCA seems to ever know how many members it has. 70% of you have 102" coaches, while 26% of you have 96" coaches. Home computing ranked at 52% of leisuretime activities. Hey... hello... we're over here!!

Well, it's the end of the year again! And not that we're counting, but it's BNO's 10th year online!! Whee!!! Folks, thank you so much for making this another fabulous year at BNO. Though you don't spend as much time with us, statistically, as you used to, there are many more of you discovering our web site than ever before, as our numbers continue to show steady growth. As I have said so many times, I absolutely couldn't have done this without your continued support. I am very grateful to each and every one of you for visiting BNO. You know, they say you can't be aloof about success, and although so many of you have kindly acknowledged my participation in this venture, it is, indeed, I who am most appreciative of you. Again, thank you. All the very best to you and yours throughout this holiday season and the very happiest New Year to all!

Warmest best wishes,

Ian Giffin

Thanks for the info I@N and happy new year. I don't know how I feel about being the biggest blabbermouth or maybe it is just because I have been on the board since inception, or very close to it.

Ian. Thanks for the interesting stats. You have the best site for bus nuts. I may not post as often as some but I do have the bus bug. As your stats indicate it is very contagious.
Happy New year to you and Macy.

Bossnut, I have enjoyed your EOY recaps for quite a few years now, and I always find something curious that surprises me. This year the interesting nugget is that 70% of the users have 102" coaches?! I would have never, never guessed that.

Well for those of us increasingly marginalized 'classic' folk, perhaps we can take solace in the thought that maybe the girth of the fatter coaches is reflective of their owner's waistlines? LOL :-) :-) :-)

Just funnin!

I@n, you know that I've said many times how grateful I am for having found BNO some five years ago. There is absolutely, positively NO WAY that I could have completed could possibly continue a project like this without the platform you have provided and the guidance of so, so many talented 'mentors'.

I'd like to again sincerely thank you and those who contribute their knowledge and points-of-view to those of us who still need a lot of hand-holding.

With all of the hand-wringing and wailing about the "state of the world" out there in the world now, it's a pleasant relief to come to a place where the biggest controversy is 'solid vs. stranded', 'basement vs. carbunckles', 'foam vs. sheet', or 'pex vs. cpvc'. :-)

Ya'll keep it up, and if I ever get smart enough I'll add a nugget or two one of these days.

Thanks for taking the time to post this info .. it is very useful for " reflection " by many of us. I see the inactivity in the chat room... when somebody logs in, there can only be heard the sound of crickets; don't know how this can be fixed, esp. with changes in time zones.

I think you have the Energizer Bunny beat: you are still going, and going, after all these years. I wish my bus had a battery like that! You're awesome!

Another Happy New Year to you, Sir, and of course, to all Busnuts, who are, in essence, one big family.

Best wishes for 2008!
