Umm, the unit he is talking about is not the one made by Ballard. In fact, I imagine it is only a matter of time before Ballard sues the pants off "EcoStar" for infringing their trademark.

Ballard, AFAIK, does not make anything smaller than 65 KW. Thus is demonstrated the danger of "Googling" a name without doing full research.

The units marketed by "EcoStar," which is a different company entirely ("EcoStar Renewable Energy," http://www.ecostarsolar.com), as illustrated in this eBay listing are, IMO, inferior-quality products targeting a price-point rather than a well-engineered solution.

You get what you pay for. The advertised product weighs only 22 lbs -- what exactly do you think could be in it? Certainly not enough ferro-resonant mass to make for a decent output.

Also, they are a bit fast and loose with the specs -- they call it a "4.5 KW" inverter, but the maximum continuous output is 3,500 watts, which is a 3.5KW inverter in anyone else's catalog.

FWIW.
