Well, our first trip in the 7 turned out pretty good. The first two days showed the only problems that were encountered during the 3 week adventure from Tampa to Hermosillo, Mexico, up to Las Vegas and back home. It only took 8 years to finally get the rig in the condition I wanted for a first trip. I am glad that I decided to finally finish the project instead of trying to sell yet another unfinished bus on the market. The trip was mostly I-10 east and west across the country and Highway 15 going into Mexico via Nogales, AZ. The bus stayed at the only RV park in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, while we visited with friends in the area. During our stay there, I was in contact with several people traveling through. One was a 1946 MCI (I can't remember the model) that was owned by a guy from Canada who was headed to Guamas. Others were just regular motorhomes people who were happy to find someone there who spoke english. After leaving Mexico, I stayed at Beaudry RV park in Tucson, AZ. A guy who was doing his morning walk stopped by and paid compliment to my bus and was asking how long I was staying. I informed him that I was leaving that morning for Las Vegas but would be returning in a week. Well... It just happens that he is an owner of a RV space in Outdoor Resorts of Las Vegas and offered a free week stay. Somehow, FREE always seems to beat out 'I have reservations confirmed' every time. So cancel the spot at Oasis and FREE Outdoor Resorts was then confirmed. If anyone is in the area and is looking for an opportunity to experience a VERY nice RV park, Outdoor Resorts is it. Friendly, helpful, clean, very nice landscaping, did I mention it was FREE? Try it out, your bus and you will love it. Regular spots are $71.00 per night. Also discovered when I was at Outdoor Resorts was a pretty incredible MCI-6 that was owned by Bruce Langson. He is a race car builder who decided to do his own conversion in 1990 and has one of the nicest lots in the park. He was also featured on RV.TV when they were doing a segment on the park and the million dollar buses that need a place to stay. Bruce was a very nice guy and appears to be very much a 'get it done' kind of person, as he completed a very nice conversion in 21 months (20,000 hours) and includes his personally made roof and upper walls. Anyway... the trip was completed today--- All 5,800 miles of it. I thought I was going to start with some shorter trips here in Florida. I even thought of just spending a night in the back yard to get used to the surroundings---- but it didn't turn out that way. I hope everyone here had a nice Xmas and New Years. Ace--- It is good to see that you took your rig to Arcadia for the show and didn't let the DDEC gremlins get the best of you. Your bus looks good and you appear to have polished those wheels out. Take care. |

Ben glad to hear you had a great trip! Did you get the bus painted like you wanted to? If so send me some pics. I had a great time in Arcadia. The bus ran flawlessly as I think I have my electronics fixed or at least I know HOW to go around them! How did the hitch work out for you. I hope you didn't leave it on I-10 somewhere like you did your chair! LOL As for my wheels? Pics are deceiving because I ran out of time and help, and never got them done! Bussin 08 was great and wish you could have been there! Fill us in more about your trip when you can! Ace |

I am glad to see that after 8 years you have your coach the way you want it. I have been resurrecting an mc 4 for 4 years now. Stories like yours make me think that there is light at the end of the tunnel. |

Some of us need an aircraft landing light to see the light at the end of the tunnel. |

Ben, I got your email! Very Funny! Some of locals are now gathering on a monthly basis and doing some weekend trips so we can keep our fluids circulating! You might want to join in when you can now that your first trip is under your belt! Glad it all worked out for you and when I can I would like to check it out! Ace |

Ace, I'd have to agree that those monthly trips are indeed beneficial in keeping the fluids moving in guys your age. AND it's very good for your bus too! Jim-Bob |

Ace, Be careful what you ask for (or offer). Heck, at the rate things are going, we'll be fulltiming in our bus if we can't get our house in West Palm sold. Actually, we used to go to Jack's Wild Arcadia Bash until about 2 years ago. The hurricanes diverted our time & $$, then we found this NC place. And I'm sorta old, but unlikely to ever grow up. Lookin at 56 in March. If I knew I'd live this long, I'd have taken better care of me! Jim-Bob |

Jim Where in West Palm are you. My company relocated me to the Atlanta area last year but prior to that I lived around Northlake and Military Trail |

Ace, I believe only the fortunate get old. You know, I always thought there was something spooky about you! My son was to be born on the 31st but as with everything else, he dragged his feet & didn't arrive 'till 0500 on Nov 1, '87. |
