I've never converted a bus before and have never even owned an RV but I would like to pick up a MCI thats 40' and has three axles. Can anyone point me in the direction of a reasonably priced mc9,12,OR 102. the 9 is most likely my price range and I'm good at doing mechanical work and I have plenty of time working only 6 months of the year (two on & two off) I'm not really sure where to look and who is reputable. Please help I would like to become part of the bus community. |

William, Depending on where you are located, I know where a couple of MC9's, an Eagle, a PD4107, a PD4103 and a GMC Fishbowl are located. My email is in my profile. Dallas |

Were I to start another one it would be 102" wide and probably a 102 C3 for the head room, they are high enough inside to eliminate the need for a roof raise. The extra width and height open up a lot of design options that aren't very useable to the other coaches. Ed |

I believe Ian has a link (advertisement) to AZ Bus Sales....they pointed me in the right direction in 2001. Ask for Jason. Nice guy. Shoots straight. FWIW RCB |

Just for the heck of it. There is a RTS up near you. I wouldn't squawk at a RTS they are nice solid buses. Might be fun to look at. looks nice on the outside Looks like he's been trying to sell it. Heck. Get a late model van conversion. :-) Save at least $1000 in fuel. Just thought you might want to look at it. I'll shut up now. |

William, You are allready off to a good start. Asking questions on this board will get you a wealth of information from people who have "been there done that". It is a rare thing to hear the owner of a particular make of coach say "I hate my MCI I wish I had bought an Eagle". All of the busses you see regularly discussed here are good candidates for conversion. IMHO: if you plan on raising the roof, the Eagle busses are the easyest. I also love the way an Eagle rides & drives. I have also seen some very RTS conversions that were done on a budget. The one that Simon pointed you to looks quite nice. I do also see them from time to time in the $4000-5000 price range but not quite is sharp looking. Good luck on your quest & don't let anyone discourage you. 10+ years ago I told friends, family & neighbors that I was going to go out and buy my very first RV. When I came home with an Eagle Model 10 seated coach they all thought I was completely nuts. They were right! I am a certified Bus Nut!!! Welcome to the Club. Steve |
