I thought I lived in the south. We have had a good portion of snow here today about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I took this picture at 1:00 and it's still drifting down at 7:00 though not as heavy.

Well since working on the bus wasn't particularly apealing in the snow I decided to work on the fresh system for it in my basement. I was trying to come up with a nice neat way to mount everything and this is what I came up with. I intend to mount this in the bay near the freshwater tank. Top valve is for using the 12v pump the bottom valve is for city water and the middle valve will be for filling the tank. It's all mounted to a piece of poly...actually a $9.00 cutting board from wally world. Any opinions or see any problems I haven't thought of?

Is that black tank in the middle an accumulator or a filter unit? Looks nice so far. Both an accumulator and a filter unit is nice. Sears sells a filter with a replaceable cartridge that is nice and easy to service. A charcoal filter is nice for water line to faucets to get rid of odd tastes like clorine, etc.We call that snow a sapling bender up here in Pa. Probably won't last long down there.

Tim,
Think of winterising the fresh water system now. How will you drain it? Will you blow out the lines & how? How will you add antifreeze? Also you'll probably want at least 18" of hose in and out of your pump for sound isolation.
I chose PEX rather than copper and made a similar panel, on plywood, with my pump, city water filter and ultraviolet sterilizer on it and mounted this panel inside my bathroom vanity cabinet. I used check valves for the cty water bypass and a ball valve to fill the tanks from the city supply. My strategy on winterising is don't, so I kept all the fresh plumbing & tanks inside the upper walls and keep some heat on.

John,

The black tank is an accumulator.

Jerry,

All pipes and drain lines are in the coach so I guess there is no reason I couldn't mount this inside. All runs from the bay to the fixtures are pex (it's what the coach came with) the last owner removed the tank and cut all pex lines off with a sawsall in the bay for some reason so I am just trying to tie back into what is there.

Thanks for the input
Tim

Tim I would invert the pump so that a leak does not run into the motor.

I agree with Bill, Tim.

My ShurFlo 5.7 pump specifies being mounted with the motor over the pump.

Thanks for the heads up my sureflow didn't have any documentation in the box. Easiest solution will just be to invert the entire panel

Great reminder that some consideration should be given of the water system in the coach being able to withstand some cold weather?

Even for those planning to stay "south"....

happy coaching!
