Hi RJ,
The 8-71 is way more HP than the original 6-71. Da Book shows the original 2 valve 6-71 as 170 HP. Modern 6-71s are about 240.
By the way, remember the PD4104-2087 I asked you about the history of? Well my friends bought it. As we got it ready to travel to their house, we noticed that the tag on the axle housing says the axle ratio is 3.88:1! Everyone says (and the book agrees) that the only choices are 4.125 and 3.56. Is there anything in your roster info that would indicate the original ratioit was built with?
Ever heard of this ratio in a 4104 before? Everything looks original with the axle/installation. By the way, it gives a really niice dead throttle start, much nicer than our 3.56 ratio which seems to just about stall the motor.
