I live in Bristol CT, and bought my 4903 in Torrington (my home town).A fairly short ride, about 40 minutes. I've taken several trips to various destinations with no troubles, family vacations, race weekends and white water rafting with buddies etc..but it seem that every time I go to Torrington, something weird happens. This morning I was bringing "Big Red" to T-town to have the fan seal replaced, brakes adjusted... nothing major. I hopped on I84 thru Waterbury to Rte 8. No problems except for the cloud of smoke when I left my driveway that would rival a John Force burnout (normal on a cold morning).Anyway almost to Torrington, running smooth, the horn starts beeping steady. People passing are looking at me like "what the hell did I do?". So now I'm pounding on the steering wheel, swearing like a Sailor,(actually more like an extremely irate Bus-nut),and swerving all over the highway. If I held the button in just the right position it would stop beeping, so finally I jambed a pen cap in there and finished the journey. It all makes me wonder, if my coach was abused when it was in service...like a stray dog that was beaten by its master, ran away, and still growls at men with beards. That reminds me...I forgot to tell the mechanic about the pen cap...hope it doesn't fall out!! Happy Bussin' All Mike McCarthy Bristol CT GMC PD4903 |

It was 3;30 am when my wife and I finished a radiator R & R, full of water and running w/o a problem, we had everything packed and were ready to silently ease out of the Missouri farmers (who had graciously offered) yard...... As we turned left to pass between the house and the barn, the horn started blowing.... we made another left onto the hi-way... STILL BLOWING.... and hustled down the road as fast as I could haul'er... BLARRING ALL THE WAY!! Maybe 2 miles down the road I stopped and dis-con'ed the wire at the horn and later took the button apart and cleaned it, left it unassembled for 6 months and when I put it back to gether again I also re-mounted the horn and replaced the crimped leads... VIOLA...nomo problem .....fwiw.... Welcome to the club! BTW...if you'd care to email me a list of the words you used during your episode, I would return a list of those which I spoke and you failed to use! (and I AM an OL'Sailor...) |
