I looked hard at the MC 5 before we sunk so much $ into our old bus. I like the 35' bus with an 8-71. They get pretty decint fuel milage if you keep the weight down. By the marker lites that looks like an A model. That makes it look older (i like that, some dont)The 5B has the square marker lites. Parts should be fairly easy to get, they made over 1600 units. A couple of people warned me to get one with an air assist clutch. A 35' coach is fun to drive easy to get in and out of parking lots and campgrounds etc. All the usual warnings on inspections apply but i thought they were as nice as the 4106 GM's, we just decieded to throw lots of $ at our older coach to improve the power. Good luck.

We are starting our 5th year fulltiming in our 68 5A and love it. Where is this one at and how much do they want for it? Our's was converted in 83 and was used for almost 250,000 miles before we got it in late 2003. It was in great shape but we still spent about $17,000 on upgrades on the interior, windows and solar system.

The 5A and B were the sports car of buses in the '70s, compared to the 7 and 8. The power to weight ratio was great with the 8-71. They were handy to drive in the city and tight spots. If I found one in good shape, I'd be all over it.

I would be looking real close around all the windows for leaking. I just repaired a mc4,had all the skin off,and replaced frame sections and floor. Mine had lots of rust. If the floor is not flat the cross members are problably rusty. You can check the frame rail that runs just above the luggage doors from the cargo bay. Look close around the back window. The inner frame around this window is especially prone to rust. I love the looks of these old mc's. From the picture it looks pretty nice, but they all do til you get them home. I hope you save it.

My 79 5C is probobly one of the cleanest around not bragging just well bragging!! Under the D windows the framing had to be replaced and in the rear the water had came in through the upper marker lites and sat in the insulation rusting the framing. HTH Jim
