Hi All...Just wondering what GVW I should register my MC9 at. The conversion is not done yet, so putting it on the scales may not do much good. What is the average converted GVW of an MC9?

Thanks...Ross

The seats out of my MC8 weighed 1400 lbs.

Hope this helps in the equation.

You're pretty much stuck with the GVW that the manufacturer designed into it at the time of manufacture. It may even be listed on your title (varies by state in the US).

This weight isn't what your bus weighs, it is the maximum weight your vehicle and its contents can be loaded to and remain legal (ie: the bus' design limits).

A TRAP:
=======
Sometimes it is higher than what the Highway folks (the law) will allow. My MCI 96A2 is a perfect example of that. It has a design GVW 0f 36,800 lbs but the Highway folks only allow me to weigh 32,000 lbs (12,000 on the steering axel and 20,000 on the rear axel). If I'd known that, I'd have bought an A3 (with a tag axel) instead of an A2 for the additional load capacity. If I had that extra, I wouldn't have to be so careful on what things I want to put in my bus weigh.

I hope that helps.

FYI with my seats out completley empty and 60 gal of fuel my 1981 MCI 9 weighs 24,686 This was weighed at a CAT reg scale for the State Of Florida DOT for an RV conversion tag.
Good Luck
