What injectors, cams, turbo, pistons, cylinder sleeves, etc. are required to make a 6V92 into a true 350 HP engine? Are there any web sites dealing with making horsepower from a 92 series Detroit? Blake |

All "normal" 6V92TA's are advanced timing and use the same cam and pistons. All horsepower changes are made by changing the injectors and turbo. Everything else stays the same. I don't have my book available but it would require G90 injectors and a turbo with an R/A ratio near 1.0 if I remember what we did to mine 4 years ago. Geoff probably has that info as he did his about the same time. Jim Stacy |

However, those engines were never certified for parlor coach or transit applications by the EPA, and you could get into trouble in California or any other area that has smog inspections. That is a whole ball of wax that I would avoid, personally. |

Does CA have somg inspections for diesels? I've never had to have my bus inspected. Gas vehicles newer than 1973, however, do. But my bus is 1974, no inpsection reqd. - AFIK. Scott |

Most places have high-GVWR vehicles, diesels, or both exempt. The cutoff here is 8500, & all diesels are exempt. Nice! As long as it runs clean, I don't see how they'd even notice injectors, short of a physical teardown. |
