There doesn't seem to be that many outfits around that are capable of doing a 3 axle alignment on a coach. I had Kaiser Brake and Alignment in Eugene, OR do mine last week. Because my Eagle was stretched 5 feet I wanted to make sure it was correct from front to back. Did not want to scrub off my expensive new 315 Michelins. Fortunately, the front end was nearly right on, and the rear track was only out 1/4 inch, which was corrected to zero. I HIGHLY recommend Kaiser. A family operation, in business for over 40 years. And, they know Eagles, unlike so many others. In fact, they even manufacture their own tag shims, should you need them. They do a lot of work for the RV manufacturers like Monaco, Country Coach, etc., as well as the converters like Marathon. Nice to find someone who knows coaches. Just in case anyone is interested. |

Thank you all for the compliments. I'm not into naming things, but if I was, it would probably be "the seven year itch" because that's how long it took to git 'er done. (45', mid entry door, Cummins ISM 450, World Transmission, and yes.... electric cooling fans-that work). |

Yes, Mike did paint the bus. It was a very good experience all the way through. I would recommend Mike to anyone. (Willy's Custom Concepts, Springfield, OR) |

Yes, it is quite annoying when all the so called experts blow off about electric fans not working. If engineered, built, and installed correctly they work well, as mine do. I wouldn't have anything else. My system is very similar to the Prevost H3 condenser fan application. Luvrbus-I joined Eagles, planning on Branson this fall. Does anyone know if there will be another rally at the plant in Brownsville this year?? My bus wasn't done in time last April. By the way, first trip in Nov. was 4,000 miles (70% off the Interstate). Fuel milage was 9.5 mpg. |

Bob if it does I am damm sure going to try it I know the fan mitre box uses a lot of power I was told 35 hp once but don't know for sure (Message edited by luvrbus on March 06, 2008) |

Without a doubt it helps. Without the parasitic HP loss caused by a miter box, belts, pulleys, idlers, etc. My two fan motors are controlled by two thermal switches (coolant), one set at 200 deg. and the other at 205 deg. In addition, I installed another switch in the intake manifold activating both fans at 160 deg. of intake air temp. Of course I have two switches on the dash so I can manually activate the fans at any time. I have a Silver Leaf Electronics flat screen digital dash which tells me the exact temps that the ECM is reading. I only have a few analog guages for backup. I have seen readings in cruise (I never drive over 62 mph) of as high as 12 mpg on the rolling mpg readout. Hard to say how the fans impact the milage, as the ISM is a very fuel efficient engine to begin with. But taking into account that a large percentage of the time the fans are not on, or maybe only one of them is on, I believe it helps quite a bit. Also, with the WTEC III World transmission (I retained the 3:36 axle ratio from when the bus had a HT740) I am only turning 1250 rpm at 62 mph, IN FIFTH GEAR. Never yet had a need to use 6th, but it's there for long gradual downgrades, etc. The ISM developes peak torque at 1200 rpm, so I cruise right at the sweet spot. If we cared to drive all freeway miles, I really think I could easily get well over 10 mpg. The coach weighs 43,000 lbs., full. Not pulling a toad, yet. |

Mark, I can't wait to see that fan hookup you have I got mine up to 7.5 mpg but 9 or 10 would be better and I beleive with a different fan setup mine would be better.I had a new C15 Cat I was going to install in mine but the fuel mileage on those engines suck but I did like the Cat CX35 transmission that was with it a 8 speed automatic |

I will attempt to post a 3 picture combination of the fans upon completion of the installation. The blade assemblies are Prevost H3 condenser fans. The motors are Scott, 12VDC, 40 amp, .50 hp, 1600 rpm. The shroud is custom made stainless. |

If one were to mount those fan motors on a Mci 102-D where the radiators are up above the engine, you would have to cut holes in the radiator grille, then cover the motors with bumber bullets off a 54 Buick. What a look that would be! |

In reference to Ace's post, keep in mind that the Prevost A/C condenser motors are 24V. They are also 2 speed motors. All of which is great, if you have a 24V chassis system. In the case of my 12V Eagle, I had to have custom motors made, ie shaft size and length, rotation, RPM, mounting spec, etc. Too bad, because the 24V motors draw way less amperage. |

The great fuel economy , A really efficient very modern engine) may put more fuel to work at moving the coach than the early cruder engines. The 2 cycle DD dump huge heat losses into the exhaust and cooling system. Perhaps an engine from later than a 1936 design can do well with electric fans? But the early stuff cant? FF |
