Any one know where to get repair parts for a niehoff alternator. It is a model A1-702 out of a Eagle-05. I need the diode/heat sink assembly.Looking for a source that will sell to me so I don't have to send this boat anchor in the mail or pay a huge amount for a easy repair. Thanks Ed |

Ed, There is a neihoff alternator factory repair shop near Boston that I got a factory rebuilt one from two years ago. I called the factory headquarters at the time and this was the closest authorized dealer near me. I sent him my old core and I got a new rebuilt and voltage regulator for $1,000 exchange. Call 1-207-667-5892 if you want me to find the address. |

Ed, If Gomer can't find the number, there will be an independent electrical rebuilder in any of the larger nearby towns who can do any halfway common alternator or starter, which yours is. Either the yellow pages, or ask an auto/truck repair shop for advice. If you were out here, I would send you to Boyle Future Technologies, as they are the recommended shop of that type out here! If you really strike out, e me please, and I'll go over there and ask. I should ask if you're sure that is the problem, and not a symptom of something else? I agree with Niles. Gene is unquestionably THE authority on alternators, starters and the like. And one of the neatest guys you'd ever want to know. A former BusNut who took an old rusty Eagle, jig built a new frame for it and then built a complete fiberglass body. Every moment I spend with Gene is a pure pleasure. NCbob |

Years ago, I was the parts manager of a major truck stop in Atlanta. Back then we were unable to get repair parts for Niehoff alternators. We could only get new ones without pulleys. As I recall, they were difficult to disassemble and rather pricey! |
