My converted 4104 has a gasoline,1 cylinder, Kohler 5.5 watt generator. Since it's one cylinder it lurches,vibrates etc., and generally tears the exhaust system up. There has to be a better way. The genset is located in the old a/c motor bay. the exhaust runs through the floor to a muffler. It is not rigid. Can I get some suggestions? As to how to re do this? i.e. materials etc.? Thank you in advance for your help! |

Mark I have a similar Kohler gen set and when I bought my bus I was amazed by how smooth a single cyl engine could run. I also have a rigid exhaust system and it,s no problem. I would suggest there is something wrong withyour engine,such as timing. |

mark on my 4104 i had the gen. mounted in the same place as yours with the exhaustwith a piece of flex exhaust pipe and then ran the exhaust pipe to the back beside the main engine onrs with a small motor cycle muffler back there and the pipe runs in one of the floor groves under the floor worked great nice and no noise mel 4104.. |

I saw an interesting set-up a few years ago: Fellow had a 4106 with the genset mounted in the tool/HVAC compartment behind the RF wheel. Exhaust was routed under coach in a floor groove straight back to the rear of the last baggage bin. Plumbing then turned upward into a 140 hp Corvair muffler, then a U-bend and down thru another 140 muffler, then turned and exited immediately in front of the LR wheel. Mufflers were mounted vertically on the bulkhead/wall of the last baggage bin, between the duals. Totally silent. Fellow also had some piping in sections that he could clip onto the roof drip rail and turn the exhaust up above roof level when parked, if necessary. The sections could be disassembled and stored in a baggage bin when not needed. HTH, RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

Try a Honda Goldwing muffler, and use black iron water pipe for the tailpipe. It helps contain the sound pulses. I too had a 4KW one-lung, 32 cube, Kohler that rattled, shook, and barked like a junk yard dog. How did I cure it? Sold it!!! Cheers...JJ |
