I have been using good sam emergency service and have been quite pleased with their response every time I have used them. Granted that the most severe breakdown I have had is a blown tire, they still responded in a timely manner. Plus they have no mileage limit towing.

I second Good Sam! Although I have never personally used them, A couple years ago a friend lost his 8-71 in a 4106 and Good Sam sent a Landall trailer and carried the coach to the nearest Authorized Detroit Diesel Service center, at nearly 500 miles that free ride would have cost a mint!

The last time I quizzed Allstate's RV road service coverage they could not change a 22.5 tire, tow or carry or jump a bus. They would however bring 5 gallons of fuel!

Ask plenty of questions first cause when you need help you may not get it!

I also recommend having a recent January issue of FMCA magazine and a ConVerted Coach Chapter annual directory with you, the reverse look up of fellow coach owners is invaluable when you are in need of something and you find yourself in an unfamiliar land, Fellow coach owners will almost always go Waaay Out of there way to help you!

The more you know your coach the better off you are, Have your manuals and all your contact information in your coach, Keep your unique spare parts inventory, extra hoses, clamps, fittings and special tools in the bus at all times!

Then Buy the best Road Service that fits your needs and budget, As always Murphy's Law says you will not need anything that you have prepared for, so I say be ready for anything and everything so you won't need anything!

Being prepared is the best insurance you can buy!

I found that the best road service is the one you add to your normal insurance policy for about 12 dollars a year.
They use the same service, Camping World, Good Sams and others just have a markup of the same service you can get on your policy, I even use the same 800 number to call for help.
As was said, do look carefully to be sure they offer what you need, all insurance companies may not offer what mine does, especially towing to a place that will fix it, rather than into the next town and dump you.

So, Don....who do you use? For comparison, of course. My present policy is up in June and it would be nice to look at alternatives.
Thanx.

Forgot, I have USAA. It is a little bit of a selective company, used to be just for active and retired military officers, but now is most any relationship to a military person.
ALSO, forgot to mention, that is in Kansas. Each company will have a different tarrif for each state they operate in. Just ask your insurance carrier where you live about "towing insurance" indorsements.

RV Alliance "includes" towing etc with the premium as long as physical damage is in force. Won't do it just on liability. Restrictions on use seem few. 800-521-2942

Aside from Good Sam, I also carry roadside assistance from my insurance company (Farmers), however the roadside services from Farmers carry very definite limits on what they will pay for. In my case, there is a $200 limit per incident so if your roadside emergency costs more than $200, you pay the difference.

At approx. $70/yr. Good Sam is a good deal IMHO.
