Hello, I got my bus repainted and a new air throttle from John at Central Florida in Lakeland. They did a great job. All the guys in the shop were great, in fact had I stayed 'til Monday, they were going to have the uniform man set me up an account. My shutdown switch failed in the shutdown position, so I removed the Skinner Valve and capped the air lines (in and out) and can now start and run my 8V71, but have to manually shut it down for now. I've gotta test the electric circuit to see if checks out ok and if so will have to replace the Skinner Valve. Anyone got a source for the replacement. Looks like it's made by Honeywell and can get some numbers off it, but will have to get reading glasses....hehehehe! Anyway who supplies them? Thanks in advance.

When I talked to Doyle earlier today, he said he was in Savannah. I explained to him how to check the skinner valve for an air leak. When he called back after finding the air flowing to the shut down cylinder, I explained to him how to check the wiring before replacing the skinner valve. Jack

Yes, I forgot to add that Jack was a big help in help me work though the diagnostics and temp repair. Should have mentioned that. THANKS JACK!

I am in Savannah for a week.

Bill give me a shout on your way through. Plan to take an extra hour if you can and I'll meet you in my toad somewhere on 95 and buy you and Susan a sandwich at the Soho Cafe in Historic 'Ole Savannah. Call me on my cell (in my profile)

As for the paint, they re-did the original paint scheme and the dings and whiskey bumps I'd added....here's a couple of links to the pics.

Hey Doyle I wish I knew you were in LakeLand I would have stopped by.How do you like your air throttle? Did Joe do the work? He did mine and he did a great job. I do a lot of their locksmith work. I love when I go and see all the busses that they are working on. John will treat you right, they are good people.

Yes Manny, Joe did it. He made it last most of a week...hehehehe! John and Wynn became good friends. In fact, Wynn and Cathy bought me breakfast one morning; John and Lynn took me out for Mexican food that nite; then we all went to Peeples for B-B-Q the next day... with the granddaughters. I felt like family.... really great folks. I was there almost 3 weeks and got to know all the guys. (2 Joes, Ron, Andy, Steve, Gus and Ricki)

Yes, the air throttle works fine, even got that last 10% of "full-throttle", so off the line, I'm much faster. I think somewhere around a 46sec. quarter mile, top speed of 47mph!!!

Gosh, sorry I didn't remember you were there. I'm kicking myself for not geting Ace to install some berber carpet as well. Oh well, maybe next year.

Best,

dg

I made an appointment for next Tuesday to see John at Central Fl. Bus to get the oil changed and bus chassis lubed. The price he quoted me was great! he also said he would service the trans and check the brakes!
If anyone is in the area of their shop, stop by. I'll be there!

You left out that we got to know you while you were in the shop. Didn't know you were so close to leaveing. I spend most of my spare time down at the shop, just haven't had much spare time lately. It was good to meet you and we hope to see you again the next time you are in the area.

Jack C. Yeppa should have mentioned that we had some nice visits too. Sorry I left on short notice. John and the boys got to a stopping point, and I made a brake when I had a chance... hehehehe! I could have stayed there another month, the folks are so nice. Can't say enough good things about John and the gang.
