Hey Guys:
Where (typically) is the sending unit for the oil pressure guage located on the engine (8V71), and what does it look like? Is it electrical or mechanical? Does it go bad? How hard is it to replace? Thanks for all your help.

I believe it depends on your bus manufacture. For example, on the GM 4106, it is located on the bulkhead beside the mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Buddy,
What make and model bus do you have? They are not always directly mounted on the engine. For example, on my MCI7, it is on a manifold on a frame rail. Mine are electric, just about an inch and a half in diameter and it just spins into the manifold with one or 2 wires attached.

Good Luck!

Reread his post, he is looking for the sending unit, not the gauge.

Buddy, the Eagles on the drivers side in the engine compartment they have a block that has a line ran to it close to where you grease the fan it will have some wires and should have a mechanical gauge there also if not it will have plugs to install one, the dash gauge is electrical and the sending unit for the dash along with the low oil pressure shut down is located on that on that block and they do go bad and if you do not have a mechanical gauge there I would install one for a accurate reading good luck
