If any bus nut needs a trailer of ANY kind, let me know! I don't care what type it is from car carrier to smoker/grill to landscape or utility. Any size, any color! You definitely cannot and will not beat the prices. I couldn't buy the axle let alone the steel to build my own for what I paid. I got a 5x10 flat single 3500lb axle trailer, all new steel materials, 2x8 pressure treated deck boards, fully lighted, painted my choice of color, new 14 inch tires mounted on chrome, not painted wheels, new 2500 lb jack, wire harness adapter and the bed tilts with a quick release for $849.00. The taxes were extra as was the tag. Out the door, I paid $904.00. Oh wait I bought a spare matching chrome wheel and tire for 85 bucks! North Florida area direct from the mfgr. and the quality is very good! I got this for two reasons. One to haul my John Deere to the shop (if needed) and two, to carry my new old gold cart to camp sites not to mention any other misc. stuff around the house! Ace |

Well to be honest, down here where I am at, this very same trailer would cost you around 1500.00. I was happy to go 160 miles to save 500.00. To each their own! Ace |

I will never use a tilt trailer again! I had one that twice tilted up on me on the freeway. The first time my wife was helping me and did not put the retainer clip on the hitch pin and I almost lost a '55 Harley FLH with sidecar. The second (last) time the hitch pin fell out, the hold down straps broke and I lost a $12,000 Yamaha Rhino. This time I know the clip was in the hitch pin, but failed to make sure it was on before leaving a National Park parking lot. It either fell out on its own or some joker pulled it off while I was gone. Now I have a 5.5x10 landscape trailer with a RAMP! It cost $999 at Home Depot. (Message edited by Geoff on May 01, 2008) |

Geoff - Hey, long time, no post! Glad you're still around. How's that big old sports car of yours? PS: Sorry, Ace, for hijacking your thread slightly. . . |

That is a good price for locals.I do like the paint job and chrome wheels. The tilt mechanism could be secured with some kind of extra safety setup to make sure it wouldn't fail' however I would prefer the solid type with a lay down ramp. Has anyone noticed how much drag those mesh ramps can create at over 50mph? wo would have figured. I bought a 5x10 galvanized one about 3 years ago. Figured I was probably wasting money on something that was going to just sit around and have the tires rot away. Boy, was I wrong. Use it all the time, and even with having a T tag dump and pickup. |

I will post a picture of the way this bed locks down. It doesn't use a pin. It has an actull spring loaded clasp or latch! Pretty neat idea and you can secure it from opening or coming UN-latched as well! Ace |

Geoff brings up a good point. I always go back and check my connections when stopping in a rest area or where ever. Especially if parked for a snooze. You never know when a smart a__ will mess with your gear. My Dad used to always run a chain with a lock around the front of our tilt up trailer. Cliff |

How many trailers have we seen at the side of the road, broken, unattached, missing pieces, loads lost, flat tires, etc, etc? We do not want to be counted amongst those legions.... None of them knowingly set out to become members of that club, they failed to keep track of their stuff and its evolving condition... We MUST defend against the deterioration of our attention, the ravages of time brings it to us all. Or we have to set a higher priority to the condition of the trailer and its contents, whichever applies to each of us. I equipped all my trailers with the locking style pins at all the connection points, receiver pin on the truck hitch too. Piece of mind as to the "wandering fingers" when left unattended, as well as the whole process takes a bit more time, less likely to forget something. And, I ALWAYS try to force myself to make a clean circle of the vehicle before moving off after every stop... Clean circle means if you find something wrong, you walk around it again, until you do a full circle without finding anything wrong. Lights, tires, hitch, pins, safety chains, bearing caps, load security, doors, clasps, ropes, straps, fasteners, screws, nuts, Danger is, you'll focus on the one "adjustment" or screw it up, and miss another. Same strategy for leaving a hotel room? happy coaching! buswarrior |

I love to see those big boats on trailers with tiny wheels going down the interstate turning about 10,000 RPM. " I can't understand WHY my tires keep blowing out, AND they were only ten years old with only a couple of cracks in the sidewalls. " Duuuhhhh |
