I have recently purchased a 1990 Prevost Le Mirage XL. It has always been a bus conversion. She came with a 8v92ta ddec/allison 5 speed auto. 105,000 miles. I have been reading the Busnuts for some time now and thoroughly enjoy reading all the comments made on so many topics. I am a recently retired school teacher and my wife, Susan, and I are going on our first trip this summer.
We have planned a 60 day tour of the country.
We have just had the rig serviced and discovered the the bus air stopped working. My concern is not the lack or air conditioning but the loss of the defroster. The fan switch on the dash doesn't do a anything now and the company that did the service couldn't fix it. I am unable to do much work on it myself due to severe arthritis and some other health issues, soooooooooo I need to find a facility here in the north Los Angeles county area. Any help is much appreciated. Bob

Bob, most of the charter operators will fix the A/C for you or take it to Prevost in that area

WELCOME ABOARD THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF BUSNUTS::::
Thanks for coming on Bob and if you get to Florida,we have quite a few NUTS around. I am in North central, Ocala to be exact, and we have one in Daytona Beach, Further south they just get worse so stop here in this area FIRST so your mind won't get warped too bad. LOL Just kidding,I think, so have fun and if you need a nut to help, rest assured you have found the BEST place for it.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to our little world.

If you go through Texas on I-20 stop by Abilene, I'll take you to the best place to eat a good steak.

Have fun and enjoy your new ride.

Paul

Bob,
Welcome, and are you saying that both the main bus air and the front fans don't work? If so this can be either the operation of the pressure switch in the freon system, or a failure of part of the "no charge" relay, or a low air pressure switch.
Does your bus have an "AC failure" light, and is the bulb good?
A lot to look for, but one of them will be it.
A car A/C shop can tell you if it is a freon problem easily.
Please post back with some findings, and we'll guess some more!
HTH,
George

Thanks to everyone that responded to my original post! You all were very helpfull. I am having a solenoid replaced to repair the over the road air fan. We are also having the R-12 converted to R134a. This should be the last major item done before we leave on 6/16/08. Thanks again to all. Bob
