Short of making my own, does anyone have a source for 3 or 4 inch square 12v LED'S?
THANKS...

Ace,
Are you looking for exterior vehicle (amber & red) or interior (white) lights? Not sure if they have 3 or 4" square, but Waytek Wire www.waytekwire.com has a pretty good assortment of 12 volt LED lighting. Jack

Thanks Jack and Marvin but I have been to both those sites and just about everywhere else too and no luck on finding any 3-4 inch by 3-4 inch square. I have found 4 inch round which I am debating on using!

Marvin thanks for asking! My dad is doing exceptionally well and every day that passes he shows improvement. He is in a wheel chair that he can move about by himself where before he had to depend on an aid to push him. He is eating everything they put in front of him and he ask for more. He also is back to playing bingo and even back to his winning ways! He's in therapy every day and fighting like a mad bull to better himself! I'm not ashamed one bit to say he's my dad for what he has been thru and recovered from! He's a tough ole' goat and that came directly from the doctor because he first had intestinal surgery which they thought he wouldn't survive and two weeks later he had to have his right leg amputated above the knee! He's strong and repeatedly tells me he isn't ready to give up! He went thru everything with a smile and said, "it's just one of those things and they just need to do what needs to be done"! So far , so good! :-)

Tg thanks but nothing there either!

Is there a reason why a square light is not out there? Everything seems to be either round or rectangle.

Ace,
Sounds like your Dad has a very positive attitude. It's amazing how much difference a positive attitude can make. Glad to hear he is doing so well.
Will these light be used on exterior or interior of the bus? What color? If you decide to make yopur own, I have some sources of LEDs and resistors that have good prices. Jack

Ace, there is a truck chrome shop in Wildwood, I can't remember the name of it. If they are out there these guys will have it. Come to think of it I think it is called I-75 Chrome shop.
Try them.

Ace, there is a direct replacement for your Hella 65 Series light modules on your H3. We converted our entire fleet to LED's using the Dialight Series 84 LED 12V light modules. They are available in red, amber and clear and bolt right on. For the part number, go to dialight.com. You will find them under "bus lighting". The specs are at figure 12 for this lamp. You can buy through truck OEM's like Freightliner, or Prevost Parts carries them. Sorry, I could not come up with the Prevost part numbers. Can be wired for all three functions, stop/tail/turn. Don't forget to order the pigtails. One of the best conversions out there for your bus. They look and perform great and will last forever. Hope this helps.

Jack
Does your source have white LED's that are about 1/4" square? I saw where they now make replacement strips for the slimline type flouresent lights. They used 1/4 x 1/4 LED's spaced about 1" apart and they gave off more light then the tubes did. They also had resistors in it as well.

Bill,
Not sure about 1/4" white LEDs. Go to www.digikey.com. That is where I purchase all my LEDs and resistors. Jack

Mark Thanks! I got your email and I went to the site! It says they are direct replacements for buses and my bus in general. Problem is, price! How do I go about getting a price on these and who from? Every sales contact they have listed doesnt really go anywhere. Prevost doesnt have a listing, so now what?
If I recall from when they first came out, they were mighty expensive!

Ace, they list the following as distributors in North America: Prevost Parts, MCI Parts, Gillig Parts, Orion Parts. The phone numbers are in their list of distributors. I would think the heavy truck OEM's would be able to get them too. If your Prevost Parts guy has trouble with the Dialight part number, tell him it's an LED replacement for Prevost part numbers 561548 and 561547. Those are the part numbers for your existing Hella incandesant light assemblies (tail and stop-both the same). He should be able to figure it out from there. If not, have him give you the phone # of your regional parts manager. As for price, amen brother, they aint cheap, but what on a bus is?

Ace, if you decide to make your own, I have switched from using perfboard to drilling evenly spaced holes in a piece of plexiglass to push the led into. Makes a real nice look. You could also use white ABS plastic.

Thanks Steve but I just ordered 13 series 84/86 light upgrades! Got what I think was a pretty good price. Should be here Monday!
By the way, I will probably when it's all said and done have the entire bus led'd for what Prevost wanted for just the engine cover!

Sorry Tim, I'll have to look it up in my email or maybe Bob will post it!

Ok I said no modification and really there isn't any but when I was attempting to remove my old light assy's I found them to come from the Eagle family! Pretty rusty! Before I install þhe new lights, I am in the process of making a mirror finish SS backing plate that will go behind the lights and help anchor them to bus! Not serve that purpose but dress the rear up a bit with a little "bling". After this project, I will cover the louvered strip part of my engine cover with polished SS to match or chrome decal strip! Then if all that still works, I will exchange the side marker incandescent lights to led lights!
Moving forward, anyone have a nice set of chrome mirrors for Prevost? I did say cheap didn't I? LOL
