Where can i access this ?? Can I replace it ?? My fuel gauge is starting to poop out .... it knows when it's full, but gets real shakey after a few hundred miles. The gennie runs off the same tank and is on ALWAYS when the bus is on as i have no inverter. I'd like to know how much I have always ;-) AND - anyone know how much fuel a gennie burns an hr? i have a 17.5k Powertech/Kubota. |

Randi, The fuel gauge in my eagle 10 is accessed through the top of the tank from the floorboard hatch just aft the back bay. I have one tank in the center between my bogie wheels. Some Eagles had two tanks just inside each bogie wheel. You can look under the bus just above the drive wheels and see which you have. The fuel sender is a long tube with a piano wire on it and a float goes up and down. My gauge bounces around some when it is half full but settles down as it goes to 1/4 and below. Somehow the float is grounding the wire I guess. I think you can buy that gauge from Jefferson Truck in OK City. Pricey, over $150 I think. David |

Randi, Our sender in our 01 Eagle was so worn out I'm surprised the float was attached. I bought a complete sender with gauge from ISSPRO for about 65 bucks a couple of years ago. You will have to measure the tank height for referance. Use the old one as a guide. Just remember, when you insert the new one, that the float has clear travel. You might have to make an adjustment on the head location, as I did. David is correct about where it is located and how to get to it. Some will say just dip the tank every several hundred miles. I chose to do mine because I want to visually see what's going on when motoring down the road. If you keep the same gauge and choose to buy a new sender, get it from Norris at Jefferson, as David suggested. He is great to deal with. I did not know about Jefferson at the time I bought ours. If I had I would have. Good Luck, Paul (Message edited by dreamscape on June 14, 2008) |

Depending on how your cabin is converted and what is installed above your RH fuel tank, it may be easier to just remove the RH tag wheel to get to the tank sender. Can be accessed very easily that way. When you install the new one, pay attention to the instructions on how to set the resistance so you will get an accurate reading. You may also be able to repair the one you have. It is quite common for the float to develop a leak over time. Determine if your float has fuel in it. If so, drill a small hole at the leak point, evacuate all the fuel, then resolder the hole. Be careful doing this. Your gen should burn somewhere around 1.25 gal. per hour depending on load. Hope this helps. |
