I replaced my skoolie's tires yesterday (6 radials, Bandag recaps on the drive axle), & noticed something while doing this: whoever put these tires on was clueless. Both fronts, & both right-rears were bias-plys--the fronts were ancient nylon-bias tube-type. The outer left-rear was also bias-ply, but the inner left-rear was a radial! What were they THINKING?! |

They were thinking of the profit from getting rid of the old junk that was lying around the shop. Check with an attorney before continuing, since it is against the law to put recaps on the steering (front) axle. You may get a new set of tires out of their greed. Don't try to be a nice guy about this, since they set the pace for "honesty and integrity" in your business dealings together. As much as I dislike the word litigation, I would go after them big-time, since their callous act would most certainly jeopardize you fammily's safety! G'Luck ...JJ |

JJ - I think Johnny was talking about the tires he had pulled off, not the replacements. . . Clarification? RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

The bus was free--I don't think I'd have much of a case, anyway. What is mind-blowing is the fact that this bus was driven at least some with this setup--including through a state inspection! The fronts weren't recaps--just ancient nylon-bias tires. The "new" ones are radials all-around, recaps on the rear, new tires on the front. |

It's a pretty common practice just before selling off equipment to pull any valuable stuff like tires and swap them with what ever is lying around. When I purchased my bus, they had pulled the jakes. They even recorded their thievery in the service records. "Exchanged misc. parts with bus #6". Thankfully, the tires aren't too bad. Henry |

First thing I did when I got my bus home was put on all new tires. I had even planned to have them replaced on the drive home, but that fell through. Scott |

The bus sat for 4 months--these tires hadn't been touched in longer than that, judging by the rust on the lugs. I think they actually DROVE it like that. |
