Great to hear you're attending. We wanted to this year but work got in the way. I have a friend who is looking to buy a coach and will be attending to check things out and take lots of pics. I lived in Salem for along time and went to The Polk County Fair a few times.
Nice place to have a rally.

Have fun and be safe.

When I spoke to Dick Wright a few weeks ago the attendance seems to be way down this year about 60 buses attending so far. They need to do some major changes for that rally to survive same o same o every year I am a charter member and won't be going but I will miss Joe's prime rib. Enjoy

Like Luvrbus, we are charter members and have been vendors at all of their rallies.

We would love to go this year, but the logistics and costs just worked against us.

Maybe next year.

I'm going also, this will be my first time attending. Flying into Portland from Fresburg on Friday, then driving down, staying at HoJo's in Salem.

I'm presenting the same seminar on defensive driving that I did at Jack's party in Arcadia a year ago, as well as sharing tips on preventing overheating as part of the cooling seminar immediately after mine. These will be on Saturday morning, btw. Here's hoping they will be as well-received on the West Coast as they were in FL!!

FWIW & HTH. . .

Hope everyone had a better yesterday than I did.
I headed early yesterday, very hot day with 15 pug dogs.
First near The Dalles the house genset quit, would start run a couple pops and stop, At about the same time most of the electric gauges stopped, driver fan quit, the electric tranny shift would not shift,(drive only) the bus sat down on front air bags. I called a towing company the man came in a P/U and got me to a supposed repair shop. Again Hotter than Hell no AC hot dogs and wife. Sat in the sun 4 or 5 hrs, at 6pm on Fri nite the man said he in no way could help, you are on your own
(Man did not charge as could not help.
As I see it had only one thing to do. Got started shifted the tranny by hand oh also engine would not shut off up front. Anywho turned back east drove 180 miles home, getting here at after midnite.
I think thats all that was wrong
Does anyone have any ideas or anyone know a mechanic somewhere around that may know the workings of a 1975 GMC 4905.
Sitting here in LaGrande, OR and missing the Bus N USA. What a day oh well we didn't loose any of our dogs to the heat. 4905 Larry

Larry,

You might want to start your own thread to attract more attention.

I'm sorry I can not offer any suggestions. I know the area from visiting when I was a kid, that's a long time ago.

Hope you get some help soon. Don't give up hope yet, you still have time.

Good Luck,

Paul

L & L,

Sonds like you need a good electrician, rather than a mechanic!
All of your failures, with the exception of the front air bags are electrical. If you have an automatic leveling system, then your total problem is electrical, and probably in one spot up front. Most gens start and run on DC controls, and it sounds like the fuel pump is not running, except when the start circuit is bypassing the low oil stop? Get a 3/8 hollow shaft nut driver, and tighten every nut in every terminal board. The last two busses I worked on had at least 20 loose terminals. (Yes, one of them was mine, I looked at it after finding all of the loose ones on a friend's.)
I am having a problem with the eng not stopping from the front, but I don't know if there is a relay in the circuit. If there is, you may have an open ground wire.
Wiggle a lot of things, and see if you find something loose!
Good luck,
George

Larry

I'm in Harrisburg OR right now with my 4905 from what your saying I would start at starter and check thr grounds real good by this take them apart and clean them don't just look at them. I have founf a lot of grounds that haven't been touched since originally made a lot of high resistance. Then as been suggested go over all connections in panel left of driver and the connections under driver in left fron comparment under driver. If required the same thing in rear panel where rear start and run switch and after this you should be good to go.

Larry Higuera with two pug dogs.

The part about the genset stopping and the power going down makes me think the gen set was supporting part of the bus electrical. Make the bus provide electrical to both sides. Are the batterys dead or did one blow up? Try a new ground from the neg (if neg ground) terminal of the starter to the frame of the bus. You can use jumper cables to do this. Just piggy back them to each other and the - post and hook them each to a different spot on the frame. Maybe one to the engine cradle and the other to the bus frame.

How is the genset wired to the bus? Is something burned through? Is the genset setting on the + cable? Is anything getting hot to touch?

Just reporting one German Shepard.

Thank you two so much.
I found two full lumes of wires and two air lines cut under the middle bay. I must have drug and cut them. The inverter has been shut off and all kinds of other problems. When I first posted I said the front bags were down but it is the rear for sure and maybe the front, the coach is sitting real low and still no air leak, with air guage at dash still holding 120 lbs. I can't get under coach and have a DD mechanic going to look at this on Monday.
We got very hot in The Dalles but with water and fans the Pugs got thru and all are well now. Tell everyone there hello and really sorry not goning to make it. Also when Dave Gregory gets home I will call him and thank him for the return of the money for the rally.
Larry and Lynne thanks again

This year's 5th annual Bus'n USA rally was another great one. The seminars, lady's classes, entertainment, commercial displays and the food were great! We enjoyed a private tour of Marathon Coach, warm weather, root beer floats, belly dancing lessons, and an evening fire pit. The Saturday night Prime Rib by Joe Melroy was exceptionally good. I think some come to the rally just for Joe's food - it's that good! If you missed this year's rally be sure to come next year. The dates are June 24-28 at the same place.

Gary LaBombard has again made space available for some pictures of this year's rally. There are three folders with about 30 photos in each one. There are also photos of other bus rallys and events in his other folders. The address is http://community.webshots.com/user/converter101?start=0. Additional (better) pictures including pictures of the events will soon be posted on the official Bus'n USA web site at http://www.busnusa.com/index.html. Highlights of past rallys and a Bus'n USA Chapter membership application are also available at this site.
