I am tired of worring about the hinges on my 4104 and 4905,and was wanting to find resonably priced replacements for those things that the FLORIDA SUN keeps on shining and cracking and they break just when you close the door and then pick it up; try to put it back by yourself. I would like to find metal hinges resonably. GOMER |

Reasonable is a relative term. Ed Gallant makes a stainless steel replacement hinge. I do not have his email address, but hopefully someone will post it. Jack |

The original equipment lasted a decade, most aftermarket crap - 6 months. The fabric reinforced (buffalo) seems to be good. Bernie Burkholtz (Sp?) had some stainless short lenghts of hinge that went in the groove at each end of the door. These take the strain off the rubber. I found the aftermarket, gas filled supports will tear the rubber without the steel hinges for support. Jim Stacy |

We use aluminum hinges all around and have had no problems in six years of use. They can be backed with neoprene (shower liner) if one is concerned about "leaks". Came from AustinHardware.com....2". FWIW

The origonials last at least a decade , so simply purchase the replacement stuff from a place that hasn't had it sitting on the shelf for a decade. Try Luke at US Coach. FF |

My first 4104 replacement hinges which came with the bus lasted less than a month. I have no idea how old they were but were packed away out of sunlight. I got new replacements from IBP based on recommendations on the board and have had none of them fail in 2 1/2 years. |

Marvin, The part number for the GM hinge is 2467448 and we (IBP Industries, Inc.) sell this part for $2.14 per foot. We have been selling this product for over 10 years and have had no complaints about the quality. If you want to order this, please contact me at 1-800-468-5287. Also, a tip on installing the rubber. "DO NOT" use WD40 or any lubricant of this type when you are ready to install the rubber. It will cause the rubber to soften and deteriate. After removing the old rubber, clean as much of the rubber that has stuck to the aluminum track with a screwdriver or putty knife. You can soak the track on the coach and door with WD40 and let it sit for a little. Then take a 3 or 4 inch piece of the new rubber and run it thru the track several times back and forth, and this will clean out the soften rubber. After you get all of the old rubber cleaned out, clean the track of all oil with hot, soapy water. You do not want any of this oil in the track when you start to install the new rubber. The best lubricant for installing the rubber is soap & water or "Go Jo" hand cleaner. We have used Go Jo on a couple of jobs here and it seems to work great. Hope this helps. Howard |
