I have a King Dome and Dish Network. When at Pocono Speedway a couple of weeks ago, my system would not lock in on sat 119. It wouldlok on other sats. No good for what programming I pay for at the home base.
Question, should I have a program just for the RV so that when I travel, I'll be able to pick up the programming I want..ESPN, Speed and TNT.
I have struggled with this because I have no clear answer. Help me Bus Nuts...

I have had RV satellite for 9 years, I have had every problem that one could have with the system. When I called tech, it was to the point I knew as much as the techs!!! So consider myself a bit of an authority.
I have had a King Dome (the manual/stationary type) with Dish network for 2 years. My sattelite reciever is the newer Dish Pro 311. Worked fine, then "they" whoever they are? changed something.
On calling King Dome service they patiently talked me through how to set it up. I would rate thier service 110%.
So befor you do anything give them a call, it may just require some simple setting changes!! The call to them will be much eaiser than trying to do it on the internet.

Hi Doug,

Do you use the standard 311 Dish Reciever or are you doing HD with the 211 reciever?

Reason being the software has changed to be able to see the birds from the whole country in HD.

You may need an upgrade "Flash" if your dome is over 4 yrs old.

These darn sat company's are in a constant change mode because the technolagy is rapidly changing.

Even KVH's newest R6dx domes also need a Flash software upgrade to allow Dish customers to see all the birds.

Call King Control's tech dept. and I'm sure they will have your fix.

Good Luck

My King Dome is maybe two years old. My dish recivers are about the same. Seems I have always had trouble hitting on sat 119. The thing is, on sunday of the race, sat 119 did come in after trying from thursday-saturday.
I was 200+ miles from my home base using one of my home base recivers. Is the home base reciver the problem or, do I need some type of "special" rv account program?. Camping World say's "maybe". Dish person, I can't understand on the phone. And the local retailer, not sure.
So here the big question...do you nut's, have a differant sat account for your bus from your home base?. If so...what type of account is it.
Thank's Bus Nut's

Hi Doug,

No, your reciever is the same as any other Dish reciever. KVH now has 12v dc recievers just for MH's but thats it.
I have 9 Direct TV recievers on my account and 3 of them in my bus. Never any trouble traveling with them.
My KVH A-7 locks in the birds in 7 seconds flat from start up. The built-in GPS is awsome...
I have a KVH test set-up that KVH's global training chief, "Capt. Dave Walker" set-up in my coach. There is a couple components that are expiramental for me to recieve HD programming in-motion with the 5" high A-7 unit.
It works flawlessly... but, they keep sending potential customers to view my set-up.
They also installed a Digital air antenna to recieve digital local channels where ever I travel.

Good Luck

This will open a can of wormes for sure. Don't tell dish that you are useing your home receiver in the RV. They want you to have a different account for the RV from the home.
None of the problem that you have is from useing the home receiver. Do what Nick said and contact King Dome and they will help you fix the problem.

The problem probobly is Your home dish has 2 LNB's and a switch. Your KD has one LNB. All that is needed in to change the menue from dish 500 to 300. When you take it in house change it back.
Call KD and let them talk you through it, in case there is another problem. Let us know how you make out.

To get local HD TV all you need is a good signel and you will be able to get HD if it is there and you have a HD receiver. It dosn't take any special type of antenna.

Hi Jack,

The antenna is for local HD "Air" channels that our in-motion sats will not provide.
