Does any one have a wiring schematic for a 1986 orion with a 3 speed doromat trans.Every time you put it in gear it pops a breaker and disengages the trans, any help would be great.

River,
Welcome, and we appreciate your humor!
I can't help you with a schematic, but can help you narrow the problem down.
I would suggest you try turning the key on, not starting the engine, and then putting the trans in gear. If the breaker still trips, disconnect (unplug) the wiring harness at the trans, reset the breaker (if necessary,) and put it in gear again. If the breaker does not trip, the trouble is either shorted wires, or a shorted solenoid coil in the trans. If the breaker trips, you have a wiring problem in the harness. This cuts your search in half, at least.
If the breaker doesn't trip at all with a dead engine and the key on, you will have to try it with the engine running. Block wheels, set parking brakes, and protect yourself before going under and unplugging the trans with the eng running.
Is this bus 12 or 24 Volt? Solenoid resistance on a 12V bus shouldn't be less than 6 or 8, a 24V bus shouldn't be less than 12 to 16.
If this bus is air ride, DON'T GO UNDER IT, OR BETWEEN THE TIRES AND THE WHEEL WELLS WITHOUT BLOCKING IT SECURELY AT THE JACKING POINTS! We want you around!
HTH, please post back with what you find, and don't hesitate to ask.
George

Hello George,
Thanks for the help. So, the breaker only trips with the engine under load. Like taking off from a stop. I have never checked resistance of trans solenoids If you could run down the procedure that would be very helpful. The bus is 24v.
