Anyone ever heard of these? My friend saw one a while back, & said it was unusual in the fact it wasn't painted, just polished aluminum sides. FWIW, it was being used as a shuttle at Foxwoods casino--the driver said it was a former O'Hare airport shuttle, & was a 1972 with about 1,000,000 miles on it (DD/Allison). Just wondering if anyone has heard of or seen these. |

I just purchased a 1978 MCI MC-5C with 314k mi. The parts book for this bus refers to it as a "transit". Probably because of it's size (35') and single rear axle (no tag). I also know it was available with a rear door (rare). It seems to have most (or some) of the features of the larger MC-8 or 9. Mine has the 8v-71 with manual four speed trans. and two stage Jake, but no rest room though the right rear window is fogged where the restroom would be. It's a great bus, powerful, handles like a big sports car, 75 mph top speed. The sides are stainless steel, with some aluminum (above the luggage doors). So, to answer your question: Yes, I have heard of and seen an MCI 5. |

The one he saw had a rear door (both air-operated), no bathroom, deep-tint on all windows, no Jake brake, & no luggage doors. The last one is why he called it a transit. |

That was the same setup made for Greyhound for a Saudi Arabian service - less the double-skinned roof for heat rejection. |
