Hi I have a Primus two boiler heat system in my bus that has been set up to pre heat the engine and supply hot water to the two heat exchangers runing down both walls full length at floor level and to the drivers heater core.it has a 400 litre propane tank in the rear bay. Is this a good system? The bus original heater core and all ac parts have been removed by p.o., except for the compressor the rest of the ac parts and water valve are in box's in the rear bay. would it be a good idea to rehook up the drivers heater core to the engine water pipe, all the factory pipes are still in place, I am guessing that I could solder some copper pipe from where the water valve would be to to the copper pipe going to the front? I think it would be good to have the defroster work going down the road on cooler days. I was also thinking of takeing the Primus system out and installing two mini split's. any input would be very helpful. Dave L

Take this systemout and send it to me! These things are supposed to be pretty good units. If they are like gas H/W heaters compared to oil fired, they should burn pretty clean. I am looking into using one of these when we get outr traveling rig together. good luck

Luvrbus that would be great to get a manual on how to use it. I have a installation guide but it does not tell me how to start it or use it.When you are home from vacation let me know my email is on my profile. Thanks, one more quick question can you leave it on while going down the road, and do I need to have a 400 litre /100gallon tank? I know that was two questions. Dave L

David
You would not need that large a tank for heating. fridge and cooktop, but it would sure round it out nicely if you had or were considering a propane fired generator.

David ,I won't be back home till Sept (to hot in AZ)I don't have but a 40 gal tank and have never run out.You are lucky to have that system now with the price of today instead of the diesel fired boilers my Aqua Hot in another bus would use about 3 gals of fuel every 24 hrs in 20 degree weather fwiw I do leave mine on while driving but you can run it off the engine but on a real cold day the engine doesn't produce enough heat for me (I am from AZ)

Hi David. You mentioned that the Primus heats the bus as well as preheats the engine. The plumbing may well be in place to use the engine heated water in the drivers heater as it is now. Have you used it and it has failed to work? A plumbing schematic would be useful.

Thanks everyone I will have to look to see if the drivers heater core is hooked to it. Now you all got me thinking, maybe add a hot water tank and a propane fueled generator. Great more $$$$$
spending ideas, but at least I will be able to live in it when my wife boots me out for converting it! :-)
