Hello fellow bus nuts. I'm looking for a recomendation on someone in the Atlanta area that could run the rack and adjust the govenor on a 6-71 Nat. I asked around and got the number of a guy who does maintenance for the local bus fleets but he has been swamped with work. (I'm sure this is a good thing when it comes to a recomendation) Anyway I haven't written him off just trying to come up with a plan B if I need it before my next trip the end of Aug. I have been experiencing RPM's that will hang at 1200 for several seconds before settling down on startup or when getting off the highway. Maybe a sticky injector or govenor adj...I noticed it started after adjusting the buffer screw for the jakes so they would engage so they may be related but I would like to have everything adjusted just so I know it's right before I head for FL

Nothing is wrong with anybody up here that I know of. I really am just not familiar with who is in the area. I'm up in Cumming. I'll look up the shop you are referencing. Do you know if they do mobile service?

Tim, most DD dealers do make house calls but the rate will double most of the time but WW williams is a good dealer they make all the parts for the 110 2 stroke diesel and have been a Detroit dealer for years good people but I would drive my bus there and have every thing removed that would be in the way saves money so the fuel guys can have it good luck

Tim, I have a 4-71 and 3 times now I've had the governor not return to iddle or very slowly. Each time it was the weight shaft retaining bolt in the governor drive below the governor, (off the blower)that had gotten loose because the lock washer had broken its little tab that locks it to the shaft. So the bolt is either loose or completely off and the weight shaft assembly does not control the gov. anymore. It is an easy fix. It is located behind a screw cap at the end of the gov. drive. Look it up in the DD service manual and you'll see what I mean. The only hassle for me is I have to remove the alternator to get to it.
This may or may not be your problem, I hope it helps.

JACK- I thought that Ray Cox had Retired. Last
time that I was by his shop there was a new crew
there and they told me that he had retired. I sure hope he changed his mind and is back. He is
the best and a great person to associate with.
