CW,most Eagle 15s had 3 group 31s from the factory look at your cut off switches if there is 2 you only need 2 but if you have 3 then replace with 3 hello Sams or Costco

Might be the batteries but it also may be a bad ground! Eagles are KNOWN for bad grounds and will not start the bus even with good batteries!

If you replace the batteries, it might be a good time to consider re-locating where they go in order to make the cables as short as possible to the starter! Eagle owners usually re-locate them to the RR corner of the engine compartment behind the tail light door or there abouts!

1 switch will work CW I just like to seperate batteries like the factory but I would't move the batteries they are close enough to the engine now on a 15.when I get back from vacation i'll check I may have a extra 15 manual if I do you can have it free of charge you are going to need one.does your 15 have a 6v92 or a 8v92 and what part of the US do you live in.I know I have copies of the drivers manual if you would like one

I think you would be a lot happer if you added a third battery. Then you will have plenty of power to turn that 6V92. If your batteries are located in the right rear in front of the AC compartment above the dump controls for the original toilet you should have enough room for the three Group 31 batteries. All of the Eagles that I have seen Model 10's and 15's have three start batteries. You can jump it with a battery booster to get it started.

to change batts or not to change thats the issue now, after pulling the batts yester day to charge them voltage read 12.50+volts each.put each one individually on charge using a manual 2amp/6amp unit which works fine on all my other battsbut does not taper off at all on the bus batts.the 2batts from the bus are a interstate 31vhd and the other an american energy also a 31 batt , both seem to have full power. the bus chargeing systemis working fine, will go borrow a load tester today to determine their state.also would like to have a pic of my eagle inserted with my profile, but the pic is 459kb how in the heck do I reduce the kb's to below 50 kb to up load it (HELP)

Also did not forget about the ground wires will go thru all connections today to ensure good contact .This has been one heck of a start to my dream coming tru .picked up my eagle in southern Ill on june22 broke downe in amarrillo Tx (petro truck stop contacted silver eagle (craig Hanloh)was desperate for resourses and help turned to eagle bus for advice craig did what he could to give me advice, first I changed fuel filters, then determined pump bad, concerned for my safety and well being graig took a personel interest in helping me out to get back on the road safely and headed home to las vegas.they did not have a new one but had one removed from a working engine and over nighted it to me whichI gleefully installed had a maint truck come out to pressure prime the system, no dice, still not passin gas, ordered a new one from DD,waited another day. Now its wed the 25th late afternoon before I get the new one in ,keep in mind I was due to leave for ceder rapids iowa with my wifeon a year long planned trip to visit the family, that coming friday .New pump in filters primed engine running and on my way discovered numerous problems along the way, broken turbo v clamp fixed that, still no boost ,made it home, parked the bus after climbing the bullhed/ laughlin grades @5 mph made it home in time to jump in the p/u tomake the tripto iowa worrying about what was instore fore me when I returned home. finally made it back to nevada after almost 8,000 mi in two weeks of driving i'm beat ,not one to give in or up started right back after it. discovered the connectin hose on the turbo to blower connection disinegrated got another fromBB coach in vegas thanx gary cured the turbo boost blues ,finally got bus registerd and is running fine (beter than I expected until niagra falls erupted from my radiator,Okayyyyy!got one coming from BB coach. Not exactly the same ,comes from a model 10 but figure it will work just the same with some mounting bracket mods coach a/c belt never hooked up and not planning on runing it ever at least not till I can get the orig rad recored. Now back to our previouslly unscheduled problem the engine not turning over quick enough to start up.Oh by the way the fuel problem I eventually discovered was contributed to a collapsed supply line to the prime filter, installed a new line andthere ya go.one hellofa start to my bus nut career will have to check all my batt cables now , gotta get this right it's ony a machine.thanks for reading this ,and thanks to all the bnuts out there for the help, even craig at eagle for his genuine conserne for my safety and well being .Like I said with out the manual I'm pretty much lost ,been working with manuals my whole carrer in the army maint field ,theres only so much you can figure out on your own, thanx to all of you ,guess thats what attracted me to this life style people caring and helping one another just because!

One easy way to check connections is with a laser (non-contact) temperature gun. Crank engine for about 30 seconds, then quickly shoot the temperature of connections and cables. The one(s) that are hotter are the problem(s). Jack

When cranking don't do it for too long. You will drain the batts fast. Don't ask me how I know this! When cranking my 8v71, if it don't fire within a couple of seconds I turn off the key and wait a minute or too. If you have white smoke she is just not turning fast enough. Don't give up yet, we've all been there and done that.

PS I have two group 31's, been there for about two years now. They have worked every time, at least so far anyway. :-)

Paul

If all you have is the 6/2 amp charger (as mentioned above) then you will need to charge for at least a couple of days to get them back up to near full charge.

Hey i'm back, alright i've got my composure back too it's over a hundred degrees here in vegas ,being in the sun don't help.just had an idea to check the primary and secondary fuel filters and low and behold they were both 1/3 full,so i'm losing prime within an hour, any body know if there is a check valve on the return line?all my lines from the tank thru the primary to the pump ,secondary filter and to the heads are tight.supply line is new the originalcollapsed as soon as i got the bus home,so i think(and i'm not alwayyz right)either another line went bad(cracked)or there must be a check valve on the return line to the tank(i think).has any body gone thru this before or are we expieriancing this together for the first time.Man,i know i have already driven the bus some 1700 mi from Ill were I picked up the bus(and that was no fun either,no power all the way)but I'm dying to take her for a cruze down the strip this weekend.seems like all the problems i've had thus far have either been fuel or air(bad rubber turbo to blower hose).I know it will turn out alright the engine has only 30,000 on fresh rebuild.thanx

CW there is a check valve on the line just looks like a brass coupling some Eagles had it at the tank if it is not covered up there is a small door over the tank where you can replace fuel gauge and the valve. Now is a good time for you to install a priming pump if your is not equipped with one NAPA has one it cost about 100 dollars look in the parts book as I forgot the number of it but is about 2"x 4" and has 3/8 fittings on each end goes between the main fuel pump and the filter and it will let fuel flow through it when not in use with out using bypass valves I will try and locate the part # for you.It maybe easier for you to go to WW Williams and buy a check valve and install at the fuel filter last i got was 39.00 check these guys out sometimes they have good buys on filters and 40w oil expample I bought the 3 filter kit oil and the 2 fuel filters for 19.00

Put the fuel pump on started the engine with no problems, still have a air leak in one of the lines on engine will have to investigate that issue further.having the pump installed inline makes the world of differance in my case of losing prime, but will make a world of differance when it comes time to change the fuel filters again(to be continued in a new thread)My sincere thanks to all who participated in helping to troubleshoot what I thought was a battery problem , lesson learned here is that what you percieve to be a problem could in fact be some thing entirly different which could make the most seasoned trouble shooter loose his/her composure.had it not been for the good people that participate in disscussion boards such as this one a soulution to the problem such as the one I encountered would only elude me that much longer .There is not to much that I cant repair on my own, being a seasoned mechanic now out of the military ,and being an accomplished custom bike bilder(DENVERS CHOPPERS)fabricator, the only thing that could stand in my way is lack of resourses and lack of technical info, all of which are available right here @ BNO.Thanks again to all who participated,Luvrbus/H3-40(ace)/J.C.B-Eagle/Jack Conrad/Paul Lawry(Dreamscape)/Richard Bowyer(drivingmisslazy)you guys are truly well apreciated as well as BUS NUTS,and I think that I've become one too.OUT HERE>

CW, we have a Eagle Int rally every year in Jan in Quartzsite you need to make plans to attend and meet other Eagle owners and see the engine setups and floorplans these guys come up with.We have 1 this year in Branson in Sept and Paul another Eagle owner has his rally in early Sept in Texas. If yo need any info about a rally just ask on the board some one will answer.Btw I love those smooth sided Eagles 15 and another thing is learn to take the jokes about rust and the Eagles

would love to attend one of the rally's ,I think I am certifiably bus nuts at this point ,but my wife has yet to fall in ,I know that once she gets exposure to some of the events that seed will be planted she loves to travel and so do I will cross the rockies at the drop of a hat and look foward to the good times to come.conversion is my one and only goal and hobby and will be an on going project. our first trip will consist of coolers full of food and drink ,sleeping arrangments will be an inflatable mattress on the floor ,definatly not laying up my initial investment for years just to achieve the ooh ahh factor of the bus ,we want to have fun now not later but first I've got to taime this beast and make it reliable for the road.looking foward to meeting you all soon.
