has any one swapped out a radiator before on an Eagle model 15,would like some info on the procedure. It seems aside from my previous endeavors that as things are being repaired and restored to make the bus reliable now Niagra falls has come a knockin on my door step in the form of a gusher on my radiator.probably just as well that it happened here at home and not on the road brining the bus home, like the fuel pumpgoing out in amarillo tx.a new core would cost over a grand ,what I do have available to me right now is a model 10 radiator in good shape for 300 dollars, it's approx 5 inches narrower than the model 15 and just as tall, same inlets and out lets as the 15 model just narrower.the transplant will consist of plates to make up the differance in width, inccedently my coach air compressor is not hooked up and will eventually be removed relieving the extra draw on engine crank thus producing less heat on the engine.I have about 5 or 6 tubes on current core that rotted out and let loose once I restored full turbo boost(amazing what a new rubber hose can do!).Seems that mounting bolt patterns are the same so it should work out fine till I can Raise the dough to get my original recored.any and all imput from those in the know would be grately appreciated thank you VAN |

thanks fo responding wayne,I beliave that it will, that is to say i havent measured the opening of the shroud or the size of my current fan, the model 10 rad has a shroud on it if the opening is the same right on, if not than my original shroud will do it can be modified, the diferance between the rads is only 5"in width only the hights are the same.I currently have six elec pusher fans mounted to my present rad . |

CW, I don't think you can make enough electrical power to cool your eagle engine while underway. Perhaps this is how your coach got into trouble. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |

Hi tom you are probably correct,as you know getting familiar with a new bus takes time(goin on 4 weeks now)and alot of investigating for possible problems within the vehicles systems. Any thing weak presents it's self the more the bus operated,in this case half of my problems were faulty wireing, the other pre mature rad tubes failure in upper right of core . morning luvrbus,it's very possible the fans could have been some sort of band aid to a developing problem(clogged)with the radiator itself .the hydraulic fans(2)are functioning properly with no leaks.seems to me the fatigue I found in the area of the hole could be from extreem heat caused by a) clogged radiator b)that many fans ony block air flow all that much more creating even more heat. in any event 1 third of the problems have been resolved(THANK GOD),finding the problem, then comes figuring out how it occured, and lastly fixing it correctly so's it dosen't happen again. When you say the coach air compressor is not hooked up I assume you mean the A/C compressor. Without an air compressor, how would you get compressed air for the brakes? |

hi mark ,yes thats what i meant to say the a/c compressor is not hooked up inthat the belt is off,the idler pulley is missing.I have the idler pulley shaft but no wheel, don't see anything in the sight glass, dont even know if the thing runs the compressor not locked up Wheel spins free.Who knows might just need a charge and the idle wheel and belt reinstalled. |
