I wanted to label my new battery cables permanently and neatly. My son suggested waterproof address labels printed on a laser printer (the ink waterproof). I just printed them up and they look great. Staples had them: Avery #5510 Weatherproof Laser Labels, 1" X 2 5/8", 30 per sheet. $25.99 for 25 sheets, 750 labels. Less than 3 cents per label. Less when you print many times on one label. My "12 volt", "24 volt" and "115 volt" labels are printed 12 to a label and cut. Hope this helps someone else. SF |

Steve, What I have always done, is print the labels in a scroll on my laser printer: 12 VOLT 12 VOLT 12 VOLT . . . 12 VOLT And roll the scroll around the wire, and put a piece of clear heatshrink tubing over the label. I have delivered cable assemblies to the military that I did this way. -Chuck |

You can water proff regular labels by spraying them with a clear paint of some kind, such as Krylon clear. Do not us a shellac as the ink will run, but almost any solvent other than water or alcohol will work well. We us this to water proof mailing labels for mailing. |
