Since I'm converting a long-dose skoolie, storage is always an issue. However, I have an of-the-wall idea that seems like it SHOULD work: a storage rack (or boxes), starting above the windshields, extending out to the front over the hood, ending even with the bumper. I know I'd have mounting issues to deal with, but it seems doable. Anyone? Yes, I'm well aware I'm crazy, you don't have to tell me. |

I made a full-blown thatched Elizbethan cottage out of a step van once for the Rennaisance Faires, but because it had some stuff forward of the windshield that was not "factory" (ie the hood), I constantly caught all kinds of hell from the CHP for putting "anything" in front of the windshield- line. Your idea is great, but you might become a really big bright target for the bored highway cop even if it is legal... Otherwise, go for it!!! Cheers Gary Stadler |

I don't see how it would be any different from a class C's cab-over bunk, or a UHaul's over-cab storage area, as long as it doesn't restrict vision. I'll have to call the State Police as to legality, though--thanks! |

If you can find a copy of "Rolling Homes" you might see your idea in action. Of course the drag created will cost. John the busboy |

I know about the drag--I don't see any way around it. I need storage, & this seems workable. Besides, it will have a 460 under the hood--power is no problem, & gas mileage....well, it can't get much worse, can it? I know I'll need width & clearance lights to be legal. |

No matter what we do , it probably has been done by someone before. Take a look at http://www.mrsharkey.com/ And see if what your thinking of is there. FAST FRED |
