Howdy guys ('n gals!) Had what I thought was major engine/tranny problems.... but it was just the 9% grades in West Va. hehehehe. Topping out at 12 to 15 mph, but climbing every hill. Today I rolled into Charleston WV, the the smell of an electrical fire in my 05 Eagle... one big harness, about 30 wires in a bundle fried. But I found a shutdown industrial plant and stopped in a real good place. Got everything shut down with no real fire damage except for the crispy harness. Anyone know anyone in Charleston up to the task? Anyone gotta source for an 05 Eagle schematic? Anyone in the area wanna come by and visit while I dry camp? Thanks, dg |

If you don't have the factory air still in the bus most of those wires are not being used. If you can get the wires apart and still have lights and the engine starts and stops you are about there. Most of the wireing problems are in the wires that are no longer needed. Jack |

__. Hey, Doyle. Don't mean to be hard on your decision but I'd be really careful here. You have some "disconnected/unused" wires but there is enough juice for them to burn up - something about this doesn't seem right to me. If I were driving a bus like this, I'd fully investigate what wires are involved and where the hot feed came from. I'd be afraid that whatever has gone wrong to damage these "unused" wires might then get translated into important/used wiring -- if this happens, your day could be pretty well ruined. __. I hope that you don't have any more trouble but I'd be really careful here. |

Bruce, thanks for the concern. I share your thoughts. I've marked and numbered both ends where I cut them between the panel and shorts, then made sure each affected wire was disconnected from the circuit panel. I'm assuming that all power is coming from the panel and going aft. The wires are in a melted mess as they travel back, but I get no more heat, smell or arc from any I can see. Not sure I can do much more until I can get someone else to look at it. Thanks. dg |

__. Thanks for the clarification, Doyle. *That's* the kind of thorough investigation that I'd want, too. Good luck with the followup in the future. |
