I have a Gillig speedometer with an odometer. There is no model number on it. There is a dip switch in the back that I have no idea how to set. I want to set it up for a GMC 4905 with 1200x22.5 wheels. Can anyone help? Thanks |

There was an article on speedometers in the vol#2 issue#2 (Sep/Oct 2001)of The Coach-Builders Bulletin. That particular installation was in a Gillig. These units use a pulse sensor in the front wheel. You need the sensor and the right number of lumps going by it per mile to get the right speed. Yours should be adjustable. The DIP switches are set to the number of pulses per mile you have. In 1981, Gillig used a ring with 120 pulse (lumps) per front wheel revolution on a special ring inside the wheel. The system described in the article abandoned that ring and used the 60 lumps on the edge of the brake drum. One can also go to a sensor on the transmission. see www.coach-builder.com |
