Looking for information on how the disengaging device is supposed to work and how it is activated on a 1951 GM TDH. Any info on wiring or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

if this is the same as the reverse solenoid on a 4104 I can help....if that is the case the solenoid pushes an arm that then in conjunction with the movement from 1st (or neutral) tol 2nd engages reverse. Eleetricallly it's a solenoid, run current through it and it moves. How you get the current there is whatever. Use a relay or whatever to control it from the dash. This is vague but I'm not even sure of what you have a pic always help[s.

Pat,
T=Transit
D=Diesel
H=Hydramatic, so a stick reverse solenoid isn't the same thing.

Thanks for the responses. I don't have a pic of what I have yet but on top of the tranny directly above the arm on the side that controls the forward/reverse function is an electically controled device that I believe engages/disengages
some sort of clutch that allows the movement of forward/reverse with the engine running. I don't know what controls that device and or if it is functional. Troubleshooting with no documentation. Yippee!
Thanks again for your resoponses.
John
