Hi guys,
Well I'm new around here and I'm hoping you guys can give me some advice
I'm looking at a '72 MC8, recently replaced 8V-71, and recently rebuilt Allison Auto. Seats ripped out, living quarters, read bedroom, no kitchen and original lavatory. Jake brake Its not totally converted but is partially. Asking price of 11,500. Center windows removed and reskinned. Let me know positive/negative comments.

Divide the asking price by three and it could be a good a good deal if all is in good shape.

Well,
If there is proof of the rebuilds and by a competent person, I would say it would be about 7 to 9K max. but that's if all the outer skins and structural frame work and the tire conditions, amongst many other things being good. So start with a figure and deduct what you find wrong. Then add $$$ for the romantics of owning a bus and see where you are. It is really hard to quote a price or value without actually seeing it. So many factors come into it, such as how close are you to a NJT MCI and where are you located, are you near a lot of buses for sale? Travelling all over chasing a good one eats up the $$$ real quick. So if this one has a good frame and new drivetrain, you may be better off paying a bit more and save a lot of agravation in the long run.
I notice the rest room is still in there, deduct a lot of hard and dirty work for that job....... LOL.

I'd pay $1000 more for a bus without a restroom :) What a nasty job that was...

Ross,

next time you want one removed, bring it on over. We will gladly remove it for $1000. Same for anyone else.

Peter.

I was joking....but it is a nasty job. We found the secret to getting it out. Cut it up in about 5 peices with the plasma cutter and it falls right out.
