Altho I've never done it, but knowing GM's history of shared componentry, I wouldn't be surprised if the powertrain out of an "Old Look" GM transit would fit with little modification.

(The "Old Look" transits were built from the late 1940's thru 1959/60, during the same period as the 4104.)

Getting parts for an Old Look auto trans will be an interesting challenge. . .

I'm not sure if you would want to do that. A bunch of the old look transmissions were 2 speed hydraulics, (spicer model 90 and 91), but if you really want to do it, I've got my 3610 up for sale, new engine and transmission rebuild less than 3k miles.Contact me off the board.
Truth in advertising tells me to say that you'ld probably be much happier with a VS or something newer.

duh, i meant to say my ratio is 4.125
i was told that a transit package with auto could go in but the oil pan and hyd fan need to be changed.
i pulled the trans . off today , the flywheel p-plate and clutch fell off. all the bolts had snapped about 1/2 -3/4 inches in the crank .
its all pretty hammered in there.
i figure it will be just as well to swap now.
