I am getting ready to spray foam the interior and need to cut holes for the a/c and vents. will I need to reinforce the roof around the 14" openings. The roof has a slight bow to it and is rivited to the surrounding frame work . Is this sufficient? I am planning to install a 1/4" lip to prevent leaking this would partially reinforce the opening. lastly the foam should also stiffen the pannel. is there any problem with getting a good seal with the slight curverature of the 4104 roof/ what do you think? Thanks, Nelson Thomas |

If you can, reinforce them with 1-1/2 square tubing or equivalent. Try to keep the holes 6" away from the roof ribs so the roof panel flattens easily to make a more reliable seal. I'm not sure of the roof construction, but if it has a fore/aft rib down the center, weld your frame to it for support otherwise the a/c will bounce up and down. I have also seen a lot of wood frames used with no support, and these definitly bounce. If you go with wood, put them next to the ribs and squeeze the a/c down tight to make the seal on the roof. If you have Dometic a/c's, they can supply an extra rubber seal if you find it necessary to conform to the roof curve. Jim |
