I read the tread on split air conditioning to late to ask questions on it?
Ace talks about his sanyo units and ktrout01 talks about the hitachi.
Where do you get information on these units? Where can you purchase them and about how much do they cost?
thanks for the additional information

Check down the threads to last week on the Hitachi. He posted a web site, I'm sure there is a dealer in your area. They were $477+freight. Nice units and the EER was great, but the evap. unit was a bit wide at 30 inches, and the condensing unit was not very compact, also being 30" wide.

Hope this helps!

Either the Hitachi or Sanyo look like a nice option. The inside units would take up quite a bit of wall space but it could be worth it. The Sanyo unit that I've seen installed in an office is VERY quiet. I would probably mount the rear unit over the headboard and the front unit maybe over the couch. I don't plan on having any cabinets above the couch so that could work well. The front compressor unit could be mounted in the existing A/C bay which already has a grill and the rear unit would need a grill in one of the baggage doors or some type of ductwork if I wanted to mount it inside the bay. I looked at one of the dual zone units but the voltage required is 208/220 so that doesn't work out well for most campgrounds. While it would cut down on the amount of machinery it would require a bigger generator or shore power availability to make it go.

Another plus is with it being a fairly common unit, parts and repairs could be pretty easy to come by in most areas. Installation is certainly harder than a rooftop unit. but what the heck ?

Think how nice it will be to back into a spot beneath a lovely shade tree, and NOT have to worry about wiping out your $800.00 roof top unit !!! Cheers...JJ

Ktrout01 our rear unit actually sits on the floor against the wall and takes up about 8 inches of space out from the wall. You don't even notice it's there! It's blows VERY cold air in all directions and in the winter, we almost have to turn the a/c on instead of the heat once the heat has been activated due to it's VERY good heating capabilities!

The wall units we have take up about 10 inches of space and they simply hang on the wall once they are plumbed to the unit down below! These units are also remote controlled, VERY quiet, and VERY cold!

Both units are attractive and blend right in with our decor!

Hope this helps!

Ace, Did you build cabinets inside to house the cond. units ? That would be a pretty good way to go and still save your under storage space. It would also make the plumbing run real short and protect them from damage in the bays. Where did you buy yours and if you don't mind me asking ... What the $$$ was. Reply off line if you'd like.

Thanks

Hey guys, I was really looking forward to the answers to the above questions. This has been an interesting and pretty informative thread....could I encourage you all to keep it public?.. I imagine there are a bunch of folks who would like to get the scoop on all of the above questions.... and hate to burden each individual asking it to be repeated.

Thanx a bunch, and what a GREAT board, as I've said before so many times.
RCB :)

I will be posting info about whatwe have in our Eagle later today! To the ones that e-mailed me, I got home late yesterday from golf and it was too dark to do anything. I will do it today after work since I should be home early! :)
